1. Outline of the programme
Most of you know the emblem of Mercedes, the symbol of Red Bull, the little flowerof Yoplait, the bottle of Coca-Cola, etc. These symbols are chosen consciously to represent the personality and the culture of a company or a brand. The identification, the recognition of a company, anorganisation or a brand contributes to attain the companys objectives.
The logo will only be strong if all the style elements of the company or organisationare continuously respected. The recognition can be stimulated by using the style in aconsequent way.
In the same way as a signature can reveal something of the signers character, symbols enable us to penetrate the essence of the company, the organisation or thebrand and to find out what image they have of themselves.
During this project you will design and create a logo. You will be working in an
international team. The groups are composed of Belgian students (Flemish andWalloon) and other European students. While developing logos, you will have todraw upon your knowledge of several disciplines. You will also have to prove yourcreativity and your communication skills. The language of communication is English.
The assignment consists of two parts : Pre-assignment: will be sent by e-mail to you at the beginning of March Assignment: will be distributed and worked out during the Marketing Week
As stated in the title of this project (Icon test I contest), the assignment isdeveloped as a competition . Different groups will create a logo for the same client. The created logos will be judged by a professional jury, a student jury and an
international jury. The best logos will be awarded a prize.
During previous editions, students have developed a logo for the International Weeks(2005), for a project of Sad El Khadraoui, member of the European Parliament(2006), for ToBring.com (2007) and for Dips (2008)
You will not only work together with other European students, we have also workedout a social programme for you: Get-to-know-each-other-traditional-food-evening,visits, cheese and wine evening, happy hour, brunch, etc.
