Aims: 1. To use vocabulary in the field of science

and technology

1. To improve the students’ listening, writing and speaking skills.

Time: 2 hours

1. University third-year students

2. The students who are taking the course of GE241 (English for Science and Technology)

1. Listening and summarizing techniques are taught in class.

2. In the computer lab, the website http://w ww.voanews.com is introduced to students.

3. Students are taught how to use dictionary when they have difficulty with the meanings of the vocabulary.

In class activities: in the computer lab 1. Students get into the

http://w ww.voanews.com website. 2. Students listen to technology reports and

try out to find out the topic and the main idea of the report.

3. Students exchange their ideas, discuss and try to summarize the main idea of the report.

Students have to get into the website and listen to the technology reports.

Each student selects and summarize the technology report that he/she is interested in.

Each student presents the summary of the technology report in front of the class.
