In order to use the whole Prediction Strategy smoothly and automatically, we must be able to quickly say each step of the strategy. Today we will talk about what we do in each step and why. We will also practice naming all of the steps and take a short quiz on the steps.

Rapid Fire Verbal Rehearsal

When I point to you, I want you to name the next step of the strategy as quickly as you can. Try not to look at the whiteboard. You can look at the whiteboard if you need to, but try to not look at the whiteboard too much because I am going to take it away soon. Instead, use the mnemonic device, CLUE, and your own memory.

Now that you have demonstrated that you know the individual steps of the Prediction Strategy and how to use them, we’ll practice using all of the steps together. We’ll also start using the strategy to answer questions about a passage. Before we do, though, let’s quickly review the strategy.”
