• Peter loved to look at the old windmills turning slowly.
Dikes
• A thick wall built to hold back water.
• The land is kept safe and dry by high, strong walls called dikes.
Tricklingtrick/ling
• Flowing drop by drop.
• He saw a small stream of water trickling through a hole in the dike below.
RumblingRum/bling
• Make a deep, heavy, continuous sound
• It was the milk cart rumbling
down the road.
Flooded
A great flow of water over dry land
• To fill much higher than usual
• Without these dikes the land would be flooded and everything would be washed away.
