Once again Corvette Legends of Texas had a great display at the DFW New Car Show at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. They moved in on Tuesday, March 21, and were on display until the following Sunday night. We sin-cerely appreciate the time and effort that it took for everyone involved to participate in this show. Chairman, Jerry Echols did an excellent job, as usual, recruiting members, making contact with the show promoters and getting the display set up and broken down. It takes a big commitment from everyone involved to do this event. Thanks for putting Legends out there for the public to see! On display for the first time this year were: Yavuz & Defne Colasan’s Red 1958, Gary & Cheryl Williams’ 1972 Green Convertible, John & Margaret Cantrell’s 1963 Black Coupe, Tom & Cathy Hubbert’s Red 1962,Ron & Pat Cople’s Red 1962, andJerry & Ellen Fernandes’ 2008 Red Convertible. Veterans of this show were:Ken & Linda Dobbs’ 1963 Silver Coupe, Jack & Billie Hayes’ Green 1965 Coupe, Tom & Sandy Lainson’s Red/White 1961, Bob & Linda Rockett’s 1964 Blue Convertible,Sam & Linda Deneault’s 1964 Red Coupe, John & Mickye Zachary’s 1993 Ruby Red Convert-ible, Joel & Susan Joseph’s 1971 Blue Coupe, andWalter & Sandra Plumley’s Red 1966 Roadster, which is required to be there every year before they open the doors to this show.

Monday, March 20, Legends members decended on Tom Entrekin’s garage to attack the last remaining vestiges of red lacquer on Tom’s 1956 Corvette. Tom and others had already sripped lacquer paint off the main body of the car using razor blades. All that was left was areas like door jams, dash panel, and anything tight and curvy. The day was warm and windy which is a requirement to use chemical stripper. Warm to activate the stripper and windy to blow the terrible odor away. Everyone was suited up with multiple layers of rubber gloves and warned not to get the stripper on their skin. They started about noon, after Mary Jean supplied them with plenty of pizza for lunch. The crew consisted of: Bill Preston, Al Macdonald, Don Sebert, Bob Rockett, Steve Daniel, and eventually... Gary Williams and Dan Jacobs.
