CASE STUDYA Family Learning Coffee Morning was the start of something new for Rebecca Cantwell. The opportunity to study Keeping up With Children’s Literacy came after attending a Family Learning Coffee Morning at her daughter’s school.

Rebecca said; “I enrolled onto the Keeping up With Children’s Literacy course with Learning and Skills as I hoped that it would help me to support my daughter in her learning and also to help support her with her homework.“

After completing the course Rebecca continued her studies with Learning and Skills and enrolled onto the Level 1 Safeguarding and free maths course. Rebecca was also offered the opportunity to volunteer at St Gregory’s Catholic Primary Academy in Stockton where she helps support the Nursery children with their reading.

She said; “I was quite apprehensive at first as it had been a while since I had been in education, but since studying with Learning and Skills I have gained the confidence to be able to enrol onto further courses outside of the school.”

She added; “I would definitely recommend Learning and Skills. The tutors are so welcoming and friendly and made me feel at ease from the start. They have great resources and the course was at a nice pace to understand.”

Rebecca hopes to continue her studies by enrolling on the Supporting Teaching and Learning course with Learning and Skills where she also hopes to start volunteering within the Adult Learning courses.
