ESTHER NJUGUNA | STUDIED: AGED CARE & NURSING | COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: KENYA

While at EQUALS I was made to feel at home by the great staff members and the management. Settling down to studies as a mature student in a new country was a huge challenge. However, I found EQUALS to be full of diversity, professional expertise and ready to serve. They provided me with support, guidance and solutions to my concerns as I settled down to study and live in Adelaide. Studying Certificate lll in Aged Care and working part time as a Personal assistant provided me with practical skills and knowledge as I pursued Diploma of Enrolled Nursing. The Diploma offered a great pathway to the University of South Australia. I qualified for credit transfer worth 36 units, which enabled me to complete the Bachelor of Nursing in two years. I worked part time as an Enrolled Nurse as I studied the degree program. Being a mature student and a mother, getting through years of full time studies and several months of clinical placements was tough but I certainly developed a lot of skills, gained an immense amount of knowledge and had some life-changing experiences.

I came to Australia with an ambition to work and migrate. I found Diploma of Remedial Massage was similar to my prior practice and got more information about EQUALS from our family friend. From day one onwards, I received support from EQUALS and chose to stay with them during my process of migration. Currently I am sponsored as a Remedial Massage therapist at an integrative health centre in Adelaide. The experience throughout my study at EQUALS gave me the opportunity to improve my skills and knowledge in massage.

I first landed in Australia in 2008 to pursue my further study in Nursing along with my husband.. I chose EQUALS international Nursing college to continue my further education here in Adelaide. EQUALS became my first choice because of its reputation of high standard and quality services in international learning, which I discovered from internet reviews and consultations with informed persons. EQUALS certainly did not disappoint me as my all expectations were met once I commenced my study here. First, I was overwhelmed by the amount of support EQUALS provided me to settle in Adelaide. From the orientation of town to job search, I was provided all assistance, therefore I could call it my new home! I am very much thankful to EQUALS for helping me in my difficult times. EQUALS is different to other institutions because of supportive management and approachable staff. They also offer psychological, social and most importantly financial assistance to those who are in need. With their unconditional support I finished my diploma in nursing in 2010 and started my career in Nursing, through which I could obtain my residency of Australia.
