The secret of leadership
Leadership Lessons from a Teabag!
It’s as if someone left the kettle of water on the
stove and forgot to turn of the gas
What counts is what’s inside the teabag
• Fancy Labels• Delicate silk tassels
Your beliefs and your attitude
The real flavor comes through only when the teabag gets into hot water
Hot Water Vs. Luke warm water
Good teabags look forward to getting into hot water
Leaders love challenges. Just as teabags love hot water.
A teabag must be porous
As a leader, you need to be able to touch other people. Else, all that’s inside will be wasted – untouched by all the good around you
Teabags work, never mind where they are in the cup
Leaders derive their strength from within – not from a title or a position
Sometimes, you need to add some sugar and milk
Good leaders find partners or colleagues who complement their skill sets and fill in the missing pieces.
Someone else holds the string. Always
Leaders don’t let power go to their heads and begin seeing themselves as lords and masters of all they survey
It’s all about how good the tea is. Not the teabag!
Good leaders never forget: ‘It’s not about me. It’s about them!”
Eventually, teabags need to make way and get out
Remember that getting out is a normal and necessary part of the tea-making process
Thank you
