Implementation HPN

Theory of Change Grounded on the premise that the milestones of early

development crucially affect the quality of subsequent developmental processes for children.

Theory of Action Gradually scaling up to serve the children and youth of

Hayward Promise Neighborhood. Involving parents, educators and community leaders in concerted and coordinated efforts to guide child development towards the acquisition of positive and sustainable behaviors.

Study Identified the following:

10,662 Residents 957 Children Birth to 4 yrs. Old 2,166 School age children 1,292 Transition 18 to 24 yrs. of age

4,415 (41%) population is 25 yrs. of age or younger 3,123 (30%) is 18 yrs. of age or younger

Of the 2,166 school age (5-18 years)

77% (1,674) are enrolled in Hayward Unified School

70% (1,172 of 1,674) of these children attend one of the six target schools of the HPN Partnership - Harder and Park Elementary, Cesar Chavez and Winton Middle, and Tennyson and Hayward High Schools.

Vision of HPN

All children growing up in the Jackson Triangle will have access to effective schools and strong systems of family and community support that will prepare them to attain an excellent education and successfully transition to college or postsecondary training and careers.
