A message from our Principal…

PARENT POWER

We had a great turn up of parents over the last 2 days for our afternoon tea – awesome! I am completely aware that there are many

barriers to parents coming into our school. Work, family commitments and some who might miss a newsletter or two. In saying that, to get the numbers we did was satisfying. A big thank you to those who coordinated or prepared the afternoons. It really does make a difference! We hope you enjoyed yourselves! REPORTS Students end of semester reports will be coming home in the last week of school. All reports have been submitted and our executive are busily putting the fine tooth comb through them in preparation for printing. If you have any feedback on your child’s report, please pass them on to your child’s teacher. As always, if you’d like any clarification or further information on your child’s progress, don’t hesitate to come on in. We are only too happy to provide it! LAST WEEK OF TERM COMING! With our last week of term coming, it is a great chance for parents and teachers, to look back at some of the incredible learning that’s been completed over the last 10 weeks. However, it isn’t over yet! There will still be learning

happening, celebration of success days and monitoring of attendance and behaviour. We are going to be sharp and conduct ourselves like the awesome LPS representatives we are, until 3pm Friday!

See you all soon! Brett.

PSSA SOCCER Although PSSA Soccer has a bye this week, the students will still travel to Alexandra Park (Ian Barker Fields) to have a training session and game against each other. So bus money will still be required. SOFTBALL TRIALS Congratulations to Mollie Wayenberg (Girls), Oscar Lyons (Boys) and Eddy Schultheis (Boys) who were selected in their respective Albury Softball teams. This opportunity is following strong performance at the recent trials. Unfortunately for Oscar and Eddy the Riverina trials fall on the same date as the Tony Lockett Shield State Knockout Gala Day next week. The boys have made a decision to commit to their footy school team instead of trialling for Riverina selection. To Mollie, we wish her all the best at her Riverina trials. TONY LOCKETT SHIELD STATE KNOCKOUT AFL Good luck to Mr Hallandale and his team of boys and girls competing at the gala day next Thursday. Have a great time in Holbrook kids and good luck to you all. RIVERINA CROSS COUNTRY Congratulations to our Cross Country runners who headed off to Gundagai last week to compete at the Riverina carnival. The results were: Clare Monk (15) Lucy Summerill (20) Luke Filliponi (36) Finn McDonnell (46) The students should be as proud of their efforts as we all are.

GOLD AWARDS Eddy Schultheis

Lilly Daley Congratulations to these students for qualifying for their Gold Award.

Well done!

LPS

NSWPSSA AFL Thank you to the parents who have purchased tickets in the NSWPSSA raffle for Jesse Hart. Jesse is off to Darwin in August to compete at the School Sports Australia Carnival. We as a whole school community, would like to help Jesse and his parents in subsidising some of the expenses associated with such a once in a life time school trip. We will be having a Footy/Netball colours day on the first Friday of Term 3 (21 July). Students and staff are encouraged to don their favourite sporting colours on this day and bring in a gold coin donation. As well as this we will be cooking a BBQ for anyone who would like to purchase a sausage for $2 at lunch time. All the money raised will be presented to Jesse. It’s not too late to buy a raffle ticket or two if you wish. Jesse will be set up out the front of the office from 2:50pm – 3:10pm selling the tickets, all next week.

This week in Peer Support, students discussed the skills they use in a range of situations and how to communicate their feelings and needs to others. Encourage your child to communicate their feelings and needs to you and talk about some of the activities they have participated in. CELEBRATION OF SUCCESS Boys and girls who complete their green Term 2 PBL chart in their classrooms will be invited to a ‘Celebration of Success’ Movie day in our school hall on Thursday 29 June. The K-2’s will be watching Sing and the 3-6’s Paper Planes.

These lucky kids are also encouraged to bring a bean bag or a blanket and pillow to make themselves comfy whilst watching the movie. What’s a movie without popcorn I ask? Our wonderful staff will also be providing popcorn for everyone. What a great incentive to all our students to maintain positive behaviour in the classroom. If parents do not wish their child to attend either of these movies, please inform your child’s teacher and alternative arrangements will be made.
