In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own soulsand from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray,

no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave andMessenger.

When the last ten days of Ramadaanbegan, the Prophet (pbuh) would tightenhis waist-wrapper (meaning he would stay

away from marital relations), spend hisnights in prayer, and wake his family.(Muslim)

In the name of God, Most Gracious, MostMerciful .We have indeed revealed this(Message) in the Night of Power: Andwhat will explain to thee what the Night

of Power is? The Night of Power is betterthan a thousand months. Therein comedown the angels and the Spirit by Godspermission, on every errand: Peace!...Thisuntil the rise of morn!

    Surah 97 The Holy Quran

    read moreQuran : (mail 12) -Al Qadr [Power, Fate] (Surah 97) with Tafsir.http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/LoveIslam_ LiveIslam/ message/327

The Holy Quraan contains a short surahdedicated to Laylatul Qadr. Surah Al-Qadr is the97th surah and consists of five verses. However, these short verses carry greatmeaning and guidance. They tell us all we needto know about the essence and spirit ofLaylatul Qadr.Laylatul Qadr falls sometime within the last 10days of Ramadhan.

"Seek it in Ramadan in the last tennights. For verily, it is during the odd

nights, the twenty-first, or the twenty-third, or the twenty-fifth, or the twenty-seventh, or the twenty-ninth, or duringthe last night." Sahih Hadith Ahmad 5:318

Laylatul Qadr is the most blessed night. Aperson who misses it has indeed missed agreat amount of good. If an individual wants to

obey his Lord, increase the good deeds in hisrecord and have all past sins forgiven, theyshould take part in Laylatul Qadr.

Whoever stays up (in prayer andremembrance of Allah) on the Night ofQadr fully believing (in Allahs promise of

reward for that night) and hoping to seekreward (from Allah alone and not frompeople), he shall be forgiven for his pastsins. Sahih Hadith Bukhari / Muslim

We should strive to find this night, andthen pass it in worship and obedience. Ifthis is done for the sake of Allah, with

sincerity, then all past sins will beforgiven. However, if a person misses outon worship during Laylatul Qadr theytruly are a deprived person.

This night is full of reward and blessingand is equivalent to a thousand nights ofworship. Anyone who takes part inLaylatul Qadr will have worshipped anequivalent of eighty three years andthree months. It is as if a person hasspent an entire lifetime in non-stopworship.

The Night of Power is better than a

thousand months. 97:3 The Holy Quran"Allahs Messenger, sallallahu alayhi wasallam, looked back at the previouscommunities and saw that his communitylived for a much shorter period in

comparison to them. He was concernedabout how his community would be ableto gain as many rewards as those of the

previous communities. So when Allah theExalted saw the concerns in the heart ofHis Beloved, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, then he, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, wasgiven Laylatul-Qadr, which is morevirtuous than a thousand months." (ImmMlik, Muatta)

Worship during this night can take onmany forms. Here are a few suggestionsto help you through Laylatul Qadr:

Plan ahead if you are working. If you aregoing to spend a night awake in worship, book

    the following day off.

Take regular breaks during the night to avoidgetting over-exhausted. Try switching betweendifferent forms of worship instead.

Perform Itikaaf (seclusion in a mosque for

worship) If possible, take a vacation for thelast 10 days of Ramadhan. If you cannot stayat your local mosque ask family or friends tohelp out during your Itikaaf at home. If youcannot spend all 10 days in Itikaaf, then do as

    Reading Quraan during menseshttp://groups. yahoo.com/ group/LoveIslam_ LiveIslam/ message/326

Increase the recitation of the Quraan, andreflect on the meaning of the verses, especiallythe verses used in Salah. This will help youconcentrate.

    Increase Salah (prayer).

Doing all of the above activities may be toomuch to do throughout the night but is farbetter than social gatherings and meaninglesstalk that we stay awake for.

If your Arabic is not very strong then there aremany good English translations of Quraan andHadith, which can be used instead. Other

useful reading might include books of tafsir(Quraan commentary), books on the lives ofthe Prophets (upon whom be peace), andbooks of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) as well asDuaa books. The days of Laylatul-Qadr are an importanttime for worship, especially the last 10 days.We should pray sincerely from our hearts inorder to be saved from the hellfire. This is agood opportunity not only to pray for ourselvesbut also for our fellow brothers and sisters, forif we can not do anything else then our prayerswill help.

Ibn Abbas (RA) heard the Prophet (SAAWS)advising someone, saying, Take advantage offive before five: Youre youth before your oldage, your health before your sickness, yourwealth before your poverty, your free timebefore you become occupied, and your lifebefore your death.

May Allah help us to purify our hearts, strengthen our faith, and enable us to meetevery challenge, and overcome every difficultyin our lives. May Allah allow us to serve Him
