JourneyMen is several groups of guys from younger men to, well… the more mature, that meet Saturday morning and Thursday evening. The effect of a group of men on each other in a trusting environment has had some big impacts on men’s lives, mine for one. The single greatest awareness that many have come to realize is that we are not alone on this journey. Some come seeking, while others are shoring up their strength in Jesus. The similarities of our burdens is rather surprising, but the fellowship and simple conversation with other men is sometimes all we need to keep pressing forward in the race marked out before us. Heb 12:1 So come along and join us on the journey. -Steve Wagner

The Only Day There Is

It is a moment of light surrounded on all sides by darkness and oblivion. In the entire history of the universe, let alone in your own history, there has never been another just like it and there will never be another just like it again. It is the point to which all your yesterdays have been leading since the hour of your birth. It is the point from which all your tomorrows will proceed until the hour of your death. If you were aware of how precious it is, you could hardly live through it. Unless you are aware of how precious it is, you can hardly be said to be living at all.

"This is the day which the Lord has made," says Psalm 118. "Let us rejoice and be glad in it" (v. 24). Or weep and be sad in it for that matter. The point is to see it for what it is, because it will be gone before you know it. If you waste it, it is your life that you're wasting. If you look the other way, it may be the moment you've been waiting for always that you're missing. All other days have either disappeared into darkness and oblivion or not yet emerged from it. Today is the only day there is. —Frederick Buechner

I chose this picture because Frederick Buechner is in a cemetery. It is a visual reminder that all of our days on this earth will one day come to an end. Each precious day that is given will be gone before you know it. Don’t waste it worrying about the unchangeable past. Don’t waste it saying “someday I will”. The someday that God is drawing you too is the “sum of days” God gives you.

Today is the only day there is. Living Day One,

Deaf Missions For its latest project, Deaf Missions is translating and filming the Book of Job into American Sign Language. To aid in that endeavor, an old studio has been transformed into the new, larger sign language Bible translation center that will help further the goal of completing the entire ASL Bible by 2020. Nebraska Christian College

Students at the college have opportunities throughout the school year to hear from those working in ministry. This past week marked the annual Dunning Lecture series for the entire campus community. Three pastors from California focused on "Future Bible" and how to gear it toward preachers, scholars and church planters. Also, the college's Institute for Student Leadership brings in national leaders to speak with students. The next one, "Finding Your Voice," will feature Stuart Hall on Monday, Sept. 14.

Marc and Tina Gebhard, Pioneer Bible Translators In Guinea, West Africa, the people there are struggling with various hardships. The village is mourning the loss of its medical worker, "Doctor" Issa Millimouno. Also, a pastor's youngest daughter died of medical complications earlier this month. As they await this year's harvest, the villagers are also struggling with malnutrition and seasonal illness. The Gebhards ask that you keep their village brothers and sisters in your prayers.
