Operator

Page 58: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

Gathering Line

Page 59: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

Page 66: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

A Pipeline other than a Gathering Line or Transmission Line

Distribution Line

Page 67: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

A Distribution Line that serves as a Common Source of supply for more than one Service Line

Main

Page 68: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

A Distribution Line that Transports Gas from a Common Source of Supply to:

an individual customer, to two adjacent or adjoining residential or small commercial customers, or to multiple residential or small commercial customers served through a meter header or manifold. A service line ends at the outlet of the customer meter or at the connection to a customer's piping, whichever is further downstream, or at the connection to customer piping if there is no meter.

Service Line

Page 69: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

means the device on a service line that controls the pressure of gas delivered from a higher pressure to the pressure provided to the customer. A service regulator may serve one customer or multiple customers through a meter header or manifold.

Service Regulator

Page 70: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

A Distribution system in which gas pressure in the main is higher than the pressure provided to the customer.

High Pressure Distribution System

Page 71: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

Pressure in the main is essentially the same as that delivered to the customer.

Low Pressure Distribution

Page 72: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

The maximum pressure at which a pipeline or segment of pipeline may be operated under

this Part.

Class Location Definition§192.5

The class location unit is an onshore area that extends 220 yards on either side of the centerline of any continuous1-mile length of pipeline.

The class location is determined by the buildings in the class location unit. For the purposes of this section, each separate dwelling unit in a multiple dwelling building is counted as a separate building intended for human occupancy.

Page 78: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification

Class Location UnitA Class 1 = 10 or less buildings intended for human occupancy or an offshore area.

A Class 2 = Greater that 10 but less than 46 buildings intended for human occupancy.

A Class 3 = 46 or more buildings intended for human occupancy; or

Page 79: Lane Miller PHMSA Training and Qualification
