Deltas• Deltas are formed by

the sediment in a river

• The sediment settles at the mouth of the riverin a triangular shape

• Deltas are found where a river meets a larger body of water

Canyons• Canyons are formed

by layers and layers of rocks and sediment.

• Water, ice and wind move the rocks and sediment.

• Over time, the sediment and rocks settle and create a new layer in a canyon.

This is the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It has taken millions of years for ice, wind and water to form the Grand Canyon.

Sand Dunes• Sand dunes are

formed by the wind which carries light grains of sand.

• The wind can cause heavy grains of sand to bounce.

• All the blown sand accumulates and settles into a dune.

Frost Wedging• Frost wedging occurs

when water freezes then thaws

• This process causes erosion

• Frost wedging is so strong, it can cause rocks to split

Frost Wedging

Ypsilon Mountain is in the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The rocks on this mountain were split by frost wedging.
