land lines info

Can you hear me, NOW?!
How we survived the “good old days” of communication,
and what we should learn from them.
As wonderful as cellular phones are, we believe there are still some very important reasons to also keep a land
line phone.
We hope you will agree!
You have to admit, cell phones are convenient, but as useful as they are, what affect are they
having on our society?
It wasn’t all that long ago that we relied on our home phones to connect us to the world. If we weren’t home an answering machine could take a message. We went about our lives and didn’t have to always be so reachable.
I can remember as a child (not all that long ago) only having to dial a four digit phone number to call a friend or neighbor. Phone numbers were easy to remember and you knew all of your most used numbers my heart.
Now, try to ask someone for their phone number and what is their answer? Just a sec, let me
check my phone. It’s crazy! Many people don’t even know their own
phone number anymore or their best friend’s number for that matter!

Our youth no longer need to hold a face to face conversation, all they have to do is text.
With all of the
abbreviations and text
lingo, people barely need to be able to spell these
days.

Although cellular use can bring extra security on the go, there is no guarantee you will have service everywhere you go.
Having a landline telephone gives you the reassurance that you will have a solid connection
with no areas of spottiness.
Another great bonus of having a landline phone is that there are no roaming charges and you don’t have to worry about making calls after 7 or 9 pm.
Do we really want to have to
worry about counting minutes?
Although being “reachable” anywhere can be nice, it’s also nice to just get away without the hassles of life following us everywhere.
Do we really want to be that accessible to everyone all of the time? Remember back when we all had lives?
Phone etiquette used to be a common thing. With the introduction of cellular phones,
many people seem to have lost any regard for others around them when using a
telephone. This point is easy to prove when you look
around and see so many places that do not allow cell phone
use in their buildings.
Even movie theaters have had to put a sign
up on the screen asking everyone to turn off their cell
phones!
