2018-19 SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN

GOAL 1: READING: By June 2019, we will increase the number of intermediate students meeting or exceeding standard by 5 percentage points as measured by the Smarter Balance Assessment. For each grade: 3rd grade from 51.4 % to 55.4%; 4th grade from 54.4% to 59.4%; and 5th grade from 60.7% to 65.7% Second grades will increase by 5% the number of students achieving benchmark on STAR reading by June 2019. First grades will increase by 5% the number of students achieving benchmark on the BAS by June 2019. Kindergarten will move from 41% reading at grade level to 85% of students reading at grade level according to the kindergarten letter/sound assessment by June 2019. District Improvement Goal alignment: 1.1: To provide rigorous, relevant and effective curriculum and assessments. 1.2: To develop and teach staff specific instructional strategies to ensure a high quality education for our students.

STRATEGY 1.1: Collaborative work around student reading performance data will help teachers to differentiate their instruction and pinpoint the learning needs of individual students.

Teachers will use assessment data to analyze areas of strength and target growth areas for students. They will meet in grade level PLC’s (Professional Learning Communities) to analyze student data and plan for effective instruction.
