    Annual Secretarys Report for 2012

    January

    Annual meeting took place January 22 at the Lakefield VFW with the meal catered by Silverbacks, there were 44 inattendance. Entertainment was provided by humorist, Al Batt.

    The 2011 annual meeting minutes, secretarys report and financial report were approved.

    Jean Bass, Dory Poppe and Tracy Wheeler were elected to the board. They join Eric Kruger, Todd VanEpps and CarrieWheeler on the board.

    February A new item on the agenda will be implemented this year, brief reports on the State of the City and the State of the Schools.

    We will be going forward with perks cards.

    Positive comments were shared about the annual meeting change of venue, the entertainment, time was good, and meal wasgreat.

    March

    Easter Egg Hunt is set for March 26 at Pleasantview Elementary School.

    To date 29 businesses have signed up to take part in the advantage cards.

    LBA will again sponsor the Lakefield Lions Radio Takeover Day.April

    Advantage Cards were distributed at the end of the meeting.

    One hundred thirteen kids attended the Easter Egg Hunt. Fifteen hundred eggs were filled and each child collected 13 eggs.Pool passes were won by Jackson Fisher and Alex Busch.

    Vendors have been contacted for Family Fun Night.May

    The board filed for Articles of Incorporation.

    Endorsements for the LBA insurance policy to cover Easter Egg Hunt, Family Fun Night and other activities will be sought.

    Main Street project will begin July 9.June

    The Boy Scouts will help set up and take down attractions at Family Fun Night; they will also help out at some of theattractions. We will give them $300 for their efforts.

    July

    Family Fun Night was reviewed; it was suggested that we get more attractions next year, for example dunk tank, fishinggame, duck pond.

    Family Night at the Pool will be Thursday, July 19, from 9 to 10:30 p.m.August

    There were 181 swimmers and ice cream was served to 198 individuals at the Family Night at the Pool.

    The board recommended that the LBA donate up to $2,000 for outlets to be placed on the new light poles along Main Street.After discussion it was MSC.

    September

    Twelve new snowflake decorations were purchased for Main Street; the old decorations will be used on Highway 86.

    Holiday open houses will be run similar to last year; each business selecting their own date, an ad with a calendar of the timeswill run twice in the Standard and Livewire. Five $50 winners of Lakefield Bucks will be drawn.

    October

    The LBA agreed to contribute $250 towards the cost of bringing the ReImagine Rural: Rural Learning Center to the county.

    A committee was formed to explore ideas of how to encourage people to return shopping to the Main Street businesses hurtduring the construction.

    $30,000 in Christmas Cash will be available in time for the first of the holiday open houses.

    November A committee was formed to organize plans for the grand re-opening of Main Street.

    The annual meeting will take place Jan. 13, 20 or 27; favorable comments were made about last years meeting and we willtry to do something similar.

    We will promote Advantage Cards again in 2013.December

    Motivational speaker and humorist Pat McGill has been booked for the Jan. 20 annual meeting. The event will take place atthe Hi Lo Club.

    The date for the Main Street Celebration has been set for Saturday, April 13. This is the same date as the Firemens openhouse and dance; and the citywide garage sales.
