As the May issue of Lake Country Snap-shots prepares to go to press, it looks like spring might actu-ally be here — for real! It’s been a long win-ter, but, like many of our readers, Lake Country Snapshots is ready for a breath of fresh air and a new look. During the next few months, we’ll be making some

changes to our pub-lication — your pub-lication. That means we want to see more submissions from Juneau, Adams and south Wood county residents. It’s already diffi cult to remember how cold and long winter was as you look at some of the reader-submitted winter pictures, isn’t it? You might see some familiar faces in this

issue — and we want you to see more! The only way to do that is to make sure you are sending us your snapshots. At the lake, at the park, wherever you go to enjoy what Adams, Juneau and south Wood counties have to offer. We’d also like to start featuring a lake home. Do you have one of the “just have to see” homes

that looks over the lake or has the best view of the wonder-ful Wisconsin wild-life? Let us know! We’d like to talk to you about what makes your home special and get some photos so others can experience what you get to see everyday. As you can see by some of the photos here, this publica-tion is about you, the residents of Ad-

ams, Juneau and south Wood coun-ties. We want to see your smiling faces, your fi sh, your cook-outs, your fun!Send photos and stories to Deb Cle-worth, content edi-tor, at [email protected], [email protected] or Lake Country Snapshots, c/o 220 First Ave. S., Wis-consin Rapids, WI 54495. Our publica-

tion dates are April 15, May 20, June 17, July 14, Aug. 17, Sept. 14 and Nov. 18. Submission dead-line is the fi rst of the month prior to pub-lication.Will you be the face we see in our next issue? I hope so!

2010 SNO-BLASTLake Arrowhead is host to the annual Sno-Blast winterfest in Rome, held Feb. 11-13 this year. Now a memory as green grass starts to replace the February snow, partici-pants enjoyed a variety of events throughout the weekend, braving the Wisconsin winter elements. A big thank you to the Lake Arrow-head volunteers and staff who assisted with events, with special thanks given to the John Edwards Student Council, Port Edwards, un-der the direction of Tammie Weis and Tami Kroening who assisted with the children’s games. We also appreciate the continued support from Lake Arrowhead members and businesses within the Wis. Rapids, Friendship-Adams,

Nekoosa and Town of Rome areas who pro-vided items for the raffl e and silent auction events. The annual SnoBlast raffl e event has raised more $16,800 during the last 15 years, which has been donated to local serve and charity organizations. This year, $1,170 was donated to the following agencies/service or-ganizations: Rome Fire Department, Adams County Humane Society, South Wood County Humane Society, Wood County Family Crisis

Center, Tri-County Children’s Dream Foundation, Nekoosa Boys & Girls Club, the Les-ter Public Library Foundation and the Port Edwards Student Council. This brings the grand total of donations to more than $18,510.

Rehearsals are in full swing, and Christopher Bongen, who will direct, “The Reduced Shake-speare Company’s The Complete History of America (abridged)” by Adam Long, Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, has announced the talented cast for the Sand County Players spring show. Not only will Christopher direct the show, he will also be one of the talented members of the three man cast. Audiences would have fi rst seen him as Bill Ray in the fall production, “On Golden Pond.” He is no stranger to theater, as he graduated with a bachelors of fi ne arts in acting from the University of Wisconsin-Ste-vens Point in 2005. He assisted Carla Brynes as assistant director of “On Golden Pond,” so knows both sides of a production. He has a vi-sion for this show that is totally his own and has basically memorized the entire script. He has chosen veteran actors Bob Goodhue and Tom Wetzel as the other two performers you will see on stage this spring. Tom was seen most recently as Norman Thayer in “On Gold-en Pond” and Bob, who directed “There Goes the Bride,” was last seen on stage in “Best

Laid Plans” in the fall of 2009. These three talented actors will keep you laughing right from the start. You will be total-ly surprised at the interesting bits and pieces of our history that you never knew, things that weren’t taught in social studies class. Audience participation in a play is always a crowd pleaser and this show is no exception. You never know, you might be dragged out of the audience to take a turn on the Dellwood stage. Christopher is hoping that a talented, creative crew of builders, painters and prop design-ers will assist him in this endeavor. There are plenty of jobs, one that might be just for you. If you have a secret dream, a desire to be a part of the Sand County Players’ family, please let Christopher know. Contact him at [email protected]. He will welcome any amount of assistance you can provide. Tickets are on sale at the Chamber of Com-merce offi ce, 500 Main St., Friendship and at Carole’s Fashion Delights, 248 S. Main St., Ad-ams, through the run of the show. Show dates are April 29 and 30; and May 5, 6, 7 and 8.

The Reduced Shakespeare Company’s The Complete History of America (abridged) by Adam Long, Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor is presented through an agreement with Broad-way Play Publishing.Submitted by Hariet Dehlinger for Sand County Players.
