Term 4 Week 6 – Week Ending 16th November 2012 Lake Burrendong Excursion What a fantastic time we had last week on our school excursion to Lake Burrendong!! The three days and two nights we had at camp were jampacked full of activities including grass skiing, indoor rock climbing, archery, BMX racing, orienteering, ropes course, kayaking, boomerang making, fishing and canoeing! Added to this was the fun of the Games Night and Dance Party where we danced up a storm! Our three days were very FULL ON with early starts and late finishes. While at camp, the children were also involved in serving meals, cleaning the dining hall and scullery duties. The children’s behaviour during our three days at camp was outstanding and the staff were so impressed with their willingness to help, and enthusiasm for every single task they were a credit to their families and our school! There are a few thank you’s which must be made….. THANK YOU to the P&C for assisting us to keep the cost as low as possible so that as many students as possible could attend. THANK YOU to Mrs Bayl and Mrs Hubbard for sorting out all the paperwork and medical forms for camp. THANK YOU to Max, our terrific bus driver who got us there and back safely! THANK YOU to Amanda Brooke (Layla’s nan) and Jo and Craig Gregory who came along as our parent helpers. Amanda, Craig and Jo were such a great help and got involved in everything with the children – their encouragement and patience was second to none! THANK YOU to Mrs Kiely, Mrs Skene and Cheri, who despite serious lack of sleep managed to keep everyone in check and were SO much FUN! Lastly THANK YOU to the HPS kids. You are without doubt, one of the best groups I have ever taken away on an excursion! Following the success of this year’s excursion, plans are already underway for 2013…I wonder where we will go next year? Attached is a small selection of photos taken during our time at Lake Burrendong. Ebon, Ashleigh, Paige and Tom scaling the rock wall! Abbie and Olivia on kitchen duties! The Infants children helping Jo and Amanda carry the canoes to the water. 3-6 Class News What a BUSY week! After our fabulous excursion last week, it was straight back in to class work on Monday!

Mrs Reidy, our Connected Learning Coach, was out to visit again this week and spent time working with the Primary Class on Monday and Thursday learning all about Adobe Photoshop. The children really enjoyed learning new skills using this technology and were able to create, manipulate and enhance images using the different tools in this application. This links directly to one of our moodle tasks where the children have to manipulate an image of a Coca-Cola can to symbolise a country where this drink is sold. So far we have had Coca-Cola can Eiffel towers, Colosseums and even a Coca-Cola can changed into the shape of the Sydney Harbour Bridge! This week we have also been busily organising our pages for the school magazine. It is hard to believe we are only a few weeks away from the end of the year! Have a great weekend! Kind Regards, Mrs Jenny Lewis 3-6 Class Teacher Community News
