27 - 31 October 2015Galactia always knew that it would be achallenge to paint a canvas of "TheBattle of Lepanto". It has to fill anenormous hall and satisfy the even moreinflated egos of the Venetian rulers. Thesubject matter is enough to make youfeel sick but to make them feel reallysick she wants to show them what a realbattle looks like with bodies in the water, viscera, blood and the huge death toll.No soft hearted statesman or wellintentioned friend can stop her. She willsee it through to the end even if it costsher any dignity she has left, her careerand her freedom. This amateur production is presented by specialarrangement with Samuel French Ltd.

16 - 21 November 2015In 1934 a group of Northumberlandminers attended a WEA evening class inart appreciation. Struggling tounderstand the paintings they werepresented with, they began to paint theeveryday things they saw around them, producing some iconic artwork.Lee Hall, writer of Billy Elliot, againchampions that culture should beavailable to all and tells their story in thisaward winning play. Funny, emotiveand entertaining, the play examines thelives of this group of ordinary men whodo extraordinary things. This amateur production is presented by specialarrangement with Samuel French Ltd.

14 - 19 December 2015Self-obsessed actor Garry Essendinedelights in celebrity rave reviews, thepick of roles in the West End andadoring female fans. BUT celebrity in the1940’s had as many drawbacks astoday; fans won’t always stay at adistance and what about theentourage whose livelihood depends onyour fame? Throw an estranged wifeand the predatory wife of the businessmanager into the mix and whatemerges is an outrageous comedy thatonly the Master knows how to deliver. Astunning alternative to the usualChristmas fare. This amateur production is presented by specialarrangement with Samuel French Ltd.

18 - 23 January 2016An uplifting urban love story of Jamie, and his classmate and neighbour Ste.Together on an inner city housingestate, the teenagers discover comedy, warmth, and the music of Mama Cassthrough their loud-mouthed next doorneighbour Leah. This play exquisitelycaptures what it is to be 16, full of hopeand optimism, and falling for your firstlove.Contains strong language, not suitablefor under 14s.This amateur production is presented by specialarrangement with Independent Talent Group Ltd.

15 - 20 February 2016Premiered in 1893 shortly before Wildewas arrested for the first time, the secretsof the upper classes are the focus of thiswitty tirade against society’s differingtreatment of men and women. Moneyand innocence combine seeminglyforcing their protagonists to makedecisions they will later regret.Improbably witty repartee andscandalous sarcasm serve to emphasiserather than hide the play’s deepersocial message. A forerunner of bothLady Windemere’s Fan and TheImportance of Being Ernest, their trivialroots can be seen in this oftenneglected classic.

1 - 5 March 2016Edgar, a retired army captain, andAlice, a former actress, are awaitingtheir 25th wedding anniversary. Sociallyand physically isolated on a remoteisland, they spend their days despisingeach other until the arrival of Alice'scousin Kurt. When Kurt discovers Edgarhas had influence over the outcome ofhis recent divorce, he forms an alliancewith Alice to plot against the captainwith unexpected results. This darklyhumorous classic, which paved the wayfor plays like Who's Afraid of VirginiaWoolf, leaves the audiencecontemplating the nature of marriage. This amateur production is presented by specialarrangement with Nick Hern Books

16 - 19 March 2016NEWSFLASH.JULIUS CAESAR ASSASSINATED!Government forces have clashed withrebels loyal to the tyrant and thecountry looks to be descending into civilwar.A modern style headline, one whichcan be applied throughout history.Shakespeare’s play is as relevant now asever, and this adaptation from the LaceMarket Youth Theatre has a modernsetting – history repeats itself.

18 - 23 April 2016A Midsummer Night’s Dream is aboutromantic love but, as Shakespeare isquick to tell us, "The course of true lovenever did run smooth". The play is awonderfully lyrical reflection on love’smany manifestations – from cruelty andself-deception to happiness andlaughter – blended with the magic offairy enchantment. This most popular of Shakespeare's playsseems a perfect way to commemoratethe 400th anniversary of his death on 23April 1615.
