los artículos definidos Definite articles are specific.
When a person asks for or describes a certain, specific item they use the definite article. There are FOUR definite articles in Spanish. The singular and plural definite article all mean THE.

Indefinite articles are more general than definite articles. When a person asks for an unspecific item they use the indefinite article.
When describing the clothes that you are wearing, it is more natural to use the indefinite article. Ej: When I ski, I wear a coat, a hat, and some gloves.
As with definite articles, there are FOUR indefinite articles in Spanish. Singular indefinite articles mean A; the plural indefinite article mean SOME.
