[ B l o c k 6 8 ]1 Block 68 was looked at as a project to potentially change the fabric of downtown Lincoln into an active , more dense and desirable community. The incorporation of a mixed use building required programs such as residential, retail, civic space and parking. As less area becomes dedicated to open space in a downtown setting, our proposal included a solution that would raise the streetscape or open space not only to make it more usable by the residents, but to maximize the retail activated areas.

My responsibilities in this project included research and analysis, overall design and more specifically the design of the raised streetscape and residential towers. Final production responsibilities were the presentation and diagrams, line drawings such as plans and sections as well as photoshopping.

to reform the library quad into a landmark destination that
reconnects the campus, reinforces character, and fosters
social interaction and academic success.
During the master planning phase of this project, we were not only charged with working as an interdisciplinary group, but also collaborating with Sasaki to make a more detailed long range plan for the Love Library North Quad. Its current state is a mass of pathways that cut through space, creating undesirable interstitial areas that have become highly under utilized by the student body.
As a group, intense research and analysis of the space, and campus in its entirety enabled us to propose an active area that revitalized the campus core, pushing people to make it a destination and a main node on campus. Connections not only to the Haymarket, but to other proposed areas of the Sasaki plan drove individual building design decisions as well as landscape design decisions.
My responsibilities in this project included aiding in the master planning phase, or framework plan of our site, the design of the West building, as well as presentation drawings and final diagrams.

3The barcode project focused on computer skills and design skills through two phases. The first phase required manipulation of points to create a continually changing surface. The second re-quired an augmented surface to go on phase one. Barcodes were specifically designed based upon individuals names and other specific criteria. The augmented surface had a design intent of be-ing a shelter that sat on top of the manipulation, touching down and creating slits and openings for a person to potentially occupy in human scale.

[ S h e l d o n P a v i l i o n ] Located in the Sheldon Sunken Gardens, there was a desire by the head manager to create a pavilion to potentially activate the often dead space. He prescribed that he wanted areas of relaxation, some type of cover, potential areas for entertaining, coffee, and most importantly places to display artwork. This design concept really was driven to become ambiguous as well as something that was contrasting. Its ambiguity allows for their interpretation of what can happen in that space.
4Surfaces were created at certain heights, such as sitting heights or bar heights. It then could become usable not only for artwork but for human occupation as well.

Located on the corner of 10th and “Q” street in Lincoln, we were charged with finding a solution to a complicated mixed use problem. The prescribed programs included lecture/performance space that would accompany the Westbrook building, a Sheldon Annex art museum, retail, residential as well as parking and loading. Individually it really became not about the separation of these spaces because of their differences, but their ability to connect in a way that could change the atmosphere of the space. Connected through a large lobby area, direct relationships are created through a “Q” street community on the South edge.
