The staff are so pleased that our beautiful students have all returned to the school site, bubbling with excitement to see each other and to engage in face to face learning. We sincerely thank you for your commitment to home learning, we know it wasn’t easy by any means but we made it out the other side. I would also like to thank the teachers who went above and beyond preparing home learning for the students that closely resembled that of our classrooms. They spent hours upon hours planning, preparing packs and videoing lesson to support our students. As we move forward into emerging forms of normality, we will ease students back into learning however our focus is on their wellbeing. These unprecedented times call for a slow and steady approach. School events have been put on hold for now until further information from NSW Health and the Department of Education. I will keep you informed as information comes across my desk. This means that we are unable to have parents on the premises for now therefore no assemblies this term. ATTENDANCE As mentioned above, school is currently business as usual. Below is a chart that shows the impact of regular non-attendance or consistent short absences.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Dear Parent and Carers, Welcome back to school life as we know it!

This week our school embarked upon our new creative arts program. We have been fortunate enough to secure two local experts in their fields – Jake Martyn (music) and Lara from Yakul Art. Each Friday, students will be involved in lesson taught by these artists. Jake started this week and gave the children a taste of exciting music concepts As you can see by the photos, the student we so happy to be a part of this. Lara will begin her program in Week 6.

SCHOOL REPORTS

As guided by the NSW Department of Education, a modified report will be sent home at the end of the term accompanied by a phone interview. There will be more information to follow.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK…

Do your little bit of good where you are, it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world. ~Desmond Tutu

STAFF SHOUT OUT

This week’s staff shout out goes to Mrs Durbin for going above and beyond with the home learning packs. She thought of every detail for every day in order to give the student the best learning experiences possible throughout this time. Thank you for this and much more, you are much appreciated!!

3-6 LEARNING Throughout home learning, 3-6 have been learning about personal hygiene in PD/H/PE. As a culmination of this learning the students integrated a science experiment, making glitter jelly soap. At first, we weren’t sure how it would turn out but the soaps came out of the mould and even make the journey home. Some students took home their procedure sheets as they want to make more. Well done 3-6! Ms Johnson

SCHOOL BANKING

The Commonwealth Bank has unfortunately suspended all School Banking until further notice. We will inform you as soon as they commence again.

HEATING STUDENT LUNCHES We have had recent discussions around the heating of student lunches with regional personnel. Due to Work, Health & Safety (WHS) concerns, it has been decided that we are unable to continue to do this. So, from Monday, NO student lunches will be heated. Students are welcome to bring a thermos with hot food as an alternative. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

After a long stint at home, some children may need to replenish supplies. Please ensure that they have a HAT, DRINK BOTTLE, and for students in 3-6, pencils/pens and HEADPHONES.
