Kentridge Key Club Newsletter - May EditionTRANSCRIPT
Hello fellow Key Clubbers! I am having a blast
making these newsletters, and you guys are so sup-
portive! I am so happy you enjoyed the last issue.
Now, this is my first time being a bulletin editor.
Meaning I am always looking for better and more ef-
ficient templates or programs, so please excuse the
sudden appearance changes. I hope the mixture
keeps it interesting!
We’re all family here right? So feel free to com-
ment on these newsletters! I would love to hear from
you. Want to add something? Shoot me an email.
Tired of seeing the same thing? Let me know. Your
guy’s feedback is so beneficial to both me and the
club. If there are ever any upcoming events or things
you feel need to be put in, also let me know. I am
here for you, so let your thoughts be heard!
I hope you enjoy this next issue, and don’t for-
get to be getting those hours, It’s a new (Key Club)
year!

Some more outstanding members of the month!
Hey Key Clubbers, I’m literally so psyched for
the events coming up this month… well maybe just
for some of them. The month of May will definitely
be stressful, what with AP testing on top of the usual
workload of school. But don’t fret, school is out next
month, and there are a lot of Key Club events to
cheer you up until then! Don’t forget that you can
always reach out to me or anyone else in the Key
Club family if you need help. After all, caring is our
way of life!
First of all, I really want to thank anyone that was involved in Eliminate
Week. We had a table set up during lunches to raise awareness and collect dona-
tions for the Eliminate Project. After collecting donations from the KR community
during all three lunches, we raised a total of $__43.87_, immunizing __24_ moth-
ers and their future children from MNT!
Another exciting event that happens every May is the May Joint DCM. For
those of you who don’t know, DCM stands for Divisional Council Meeting, where
Key Clubbers in our Division have a meeting every month. For the past few years,
the May DCM has always been a big joint DCM, where multiple Divisions get to
meet up and have fun! The May DCM is on May 16th at Gene Coulon Park. This
DCM in particular is really fun for everyone, since you get to meet so many new
people and hang out at the park. I highly recommend that you all go!
Even more events will be presented in this newsletter as well as the on our
Facebook group/school email. Night of Honor, Relay for Life, Kent’s Amazing
Race, and many other events are all coming up soon! I hope you enjoy this news-
letter made by our beautiful bulletin editor Danika, and I can’t wait to continue
serving the community with you all. Good luck on exams, and don’t forget to en-
joy the sun! Stay classy, Key Clubbers.
In love and service,
Jessica Lou

To my fellow Key Clubbers,
I hope everyone has been keeping up with this busy season! Personally,
with tennis, AP tests, and other Key Club duties, I have had my hands full. I can’t
deny that I haven’t been able to completely focus on Key Club, but I know many
of you are in the same situation. I applaud all of you who continue to attend Key
Club meetings, recycle, and volunteer, and I respect those who may have missed a
couple Key Club events. Without a doubt, I can’t wait to put my full concentration
on Key Club and I hope our attendance numbers go back up after spring season is
over as well. Have a great day and keep on volunteering!
As always,
Theresa Tran

Officer Letter, Ammara Touch
If you have yet to meet Ammara Touch, then you're missing out. This lovely
lady will be taking over as secretary. Both hardworking and devoted I cant wait to
see what new ideas she will bring to the club. I am proud to present you with Am-
mara’s first officer letter!:
Key Club. When I hear people ask, "what's that?" (or, "do you guys make
keys?") I beam and get the pride of explaining our wonderful club. We're a service
club...and so much more; what we do saves lives, warms the hearts, gives hope and
builds connections. We're a family. There are no words to express how happy and
excited I am to be secretary for the 2015-2016 school year. I recognized my love for
service in middle school, and since I joined Key Club, I saw how passionate every-
one was to make a change, and I wanted to be a greater part of that change. I
wanted to inspire members to become better people, better volunteers. And more
than anything, I wanted to instill that love of service that becomes second nature.
Now, as a sophomore and officer, I am so ready to do that, and so much more, with
you all. Anything from fundraising to bonding. I want to bring Key Club into the
Walk to End Lupus and its effort to find a cure for a terrible disease. We are capable
of remarkable things; I've seen it and know it. We're in this together; I'm looking for-
ward to hearing your ideas, working with you, and making this club the best it can
be. Thank you for your hard work!
Love,
Your Secretary, Ammara Touch
I’m sure many of you have heard about our former secre-
tary being selected to be the districts new MGRC. But don’t wor-
ry if you didn't get the memo, all the info’s here. I’ll let Tiffany do
the explaining:
I am honored to serve you all as the newly appointed PNW
District Membership Growth and Reactivation Director. Phew,
long title! As MGRC, my plans for the upcoming year are to in-
crease and retain membership through various resources creat-
ed, along with aiding inactive clubs around the district to get
them back on track. On the club level, I’m happy to help KR Key
Club thrive in these terms of active membership, by promoting
Key Club and involving all members in meetings, events, and
service projects! I hope to see each of your faces at one of these
events. If you have any questions whatsoever about member-
ship or Key Club in general, don’t hesitate to stop by me and
ask! I am excited to help, and I’m glad all of you are such great
members.

Didn’t attend the April
DCM? Well don’t fret because
you’ll be able to hear all
about it here! Last months
DCM took place at the Gene
Coulon Park. Being Key Club-
bers we couldn't get together
and not help out the commu-
nity! So several of us rolled up
our sleeves and helped out
during Arbor and Earth Day.
After we all planted trees,
plants, and picked up gar-
bage we decided to take over
the playground. Enough
things got down to business
as we talked club and mem-
bership goals. Overall it was
an amazing time, and we got
to interact with people from
all the other clubs. What bet-
ter way then to spend your
day with Key Clubbers?! So if
you want to talk service,
swing on swings, and have
fun with your friends I would
definitely recommend the
next DCM!
Its that time again… Eliminate week! This month we celebrated elimi-
nate week. Thanks to all the people who sported their Key Club gear on the
5th and donated during lunch! You guys are the real hero's (sorry
Avengers :/). Keep donating and remember “don’t hate, eliminate!”
Eliminate Facts:
160 babies dies each day from tetanus
MNT has been eliminated in 20 countries since 2000
The eliminate project has saved 61 million women and babies
All it takes to protect a mom and her future children Is $1.80

Upcoming DCM’s
Have a question? Email anyone of us via school email!
I am proud to announce that our
two members of the month are Kristin
Mannschreck and Oscar Osorio! These two
have been dedicating so much time to the
club, whether it be spending hours doing
recycling and buying pizza for your fellow
workers. Or spending you weekends vol-
unteering at an Alzheimer home and be-
ing one of the only people to show up to a
volunteer event. These two have been
hard at work and deserve a huge thanks
when you see them next! Keep up the
good work guys!
Shout out to those who have been coming to recycling every week! Just a few
weeks ago a group less than 5 spent 2 hours of their Friday helping the janitors out
with the recycling. Members like you are what keep the club going. Keep up the
awesome work!
