Program Description KooBits ProblemSums is a personalized online mathematics learning portal for primary
students. It features a comprehensive collection of challenging Maths Word Problems and
learning materials that will enhance pupils’ problem-solving skills and adapt to each child’s
strength and weakness.
The program aims to enable all students to acquire mathematics concepts and skills for
everyday use and continuous learning in mathematics, develop thinking and reasoning skills
through an engaging mathematical approach to problem solving, and build confidence and
generate greater interest in mathematics among students.
This math portal is one of the latest digital platforms designed by a Singapore based
education-technology company - KooBits.
The program specifications are as follows:
To promote a platform where pupils can do revision and extension of learning
To provide problem sums questions for each level (Primary 1 to Primary 6) covering
most of the topics in MOE syllabus for Mathematics.
To provide practices, tests, exams for the questions.
To provide variation to a particular skill/concept to each question.
To allow teachers to select questions and assign worksheets from the portal.
To provide analysis for the teachers on the pupils’ scores attained.
Learning Objectives The objectives of the program are to:
a) develop creative and critical thinking skills
b) cultivate higher-order mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills
c) instil interest and enhance confidence in learning mathematics
d) encourage life-long self-directed learning in mathematics
e) provide a useful Home-Based-Learning tool that covers Mathematics problem solving
using model
f) raise the teachers’ mastery of both content and pedagogy in teaching mathematical
problem solving heuristics.

Best Practices Bite-sized Assignments
1) Assign a standardized homework
Bite-sized homework (with less than 5 questions per worksheet) works better with
students. Assign bite-sized homework and reward them points by achieving 100%, it
is one of the most effective ways to build student-teacher dynamics.
2) Assign a personalized homework
Each student may make different mistakes at different questions, thus compiling these
mistakes and personalize revision homework can be a hassle. To make the task
simpler, you can use KooBits’ Personalized Homework function to automatically
compile a student’s recent mistakes and create a new revision homework.
Appoint a KooBits Class Monitor
1) Appoint a student leader that can help assign quick homework on behalf of
the teacher
Students will get points by completing teacher-assigned homework. However,
teachers are busy and may not have a lot of time to create and assign homework. Why
not get a student leader to help you with that? Teacher can request a KooBits Class
Monitor account and give it to a student leader. The student can use it to assign quick
homework based on the curriculum for the class to practice.
2) Encourage the student leader to monitor the usage of the classmates
Make use the Champion Class leader board to let students monitor each other’s usage
and participation on a daily basis. If someone from the class forgot to submit
homework or failed to complete daily challenges, the rest of the classmates can help
to remind him or her.
3) Recognize the student leader’s effort
To reward the KooBits Class Monitor, we provide certificates to these student leaders
to recognize their efforts.

Challenge. Both Daily Challenge and Peer Challenge will give students challenge points
which they use to rank on leader boards.
Leader Boards
Hero of the Day
Hero of the Day tracks students’ daily challenge points and rank them on the leader board.
Every day, the Heroes’ names will be recorded in the Hall of Fame.
