WP 2 Enabling FAIR data for PaN NRIs
Background• PaN community has its own barriers and opportunities for the
uptake of FAIR data practices• Practises and policies vary within RIsà need to harmonise and promote FAIR data practices within NRI community
Objectives• Extend and deepen the adoption and use of FAIR data principles
within the PaN community• Form practical solutions and form a centre of knowledge and
expertise in this domain• Adopt the FAIR data certification scheme, under development within
FAIRsFAIR
It is envisaged that this project will receive funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 857641

WP 3 EOSC data catalogue services for PaN NRIs
Background• Very important tool for RIs and their users to implement Open
Research Data policies according to FAIR principlesObjectives• Deliver EOSC data catalogue services for PaN NRIs to provide access
as a one-stop-shop for users• Coordinate the adoption and enhancement of existing solutions and
link them to an EOSC federated metadata catalogue• Enable the implementation of harmonised policies, practices and
guidelines and provide services for EOSC Data Analysis Services for PaN RIs
• Enable and coordinate the adoption of agreed standards in the target groups
It is envisaged that this project will receive funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 857641

WP 4 EOSC Data Analysis Services for PaN NRIs
Background• Need of users of national PaN RIs for appropriate scale of IT-
technology /resources and knowledge to easily analyse their data• Strong request by the scientific community for scalable, quality and
easy to use services in a distributed, but federated environment
Objectives• Provide the coordination, adaption, and alignment of
existing data analysis services at NRIs within the EOSC• Deliver services that provide users with the ability to run analysis
workflows against the EOSC-aligned data services• Coordinate, adapt and align existing data analysis services at NRIs
with the new data analysis services created within PaNOSC and other funded Horizon 2020 initiatives
It is envisaged that this project will receive funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 857641
9
WP 5 Provide Training Activities through EOSC platforms
Background• RIs agree that the principles of FAIR data are a good match and even
essential for scientific data• Scientific user communities are not always aware of these principles
nor do they know how to apply them in their research output• Strong need to train scientists on how to make their data FAIR
Objectives• Set up an e-learning platform• Develop and disseminate training material for both staff and users of
the PaN NRIs
It is envisaged that this project will receive funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 857641
10
WP 6 Outreach, dissemination and communication
Objectives
• Communicate the results and outcomes to other national RIs in the PaN community
• Share and exchange the benefits of ExPaNDS with other clusters connected to the EOSC
It is envisaged that this project will receive funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 857641

BackgroundEU initiative • to achieve the vision put forward by the European Cloud Initiative• to make EOSC a reality• to realise an EOSC that truly supports interdisciplinary research and Open Science• to put a pan-European model for research data and related services in place that is both
scalable and flexible• to develop the EOSC ecosystem providing all European researchers with seamless, non-
discriminatory and secure access to public and commercial services
INFRAEOSC-05 aims • to support a decisive shift in service provisioning • from the current fragmented setting• to a new federated European ecosystem for research data
INFRAEOSC 5(b) Coordination of EOSC-relevant national initiatives across Europe and support to prospective EOSC service providers• support the coordination, convergence and federation of EOSC relevant national and/or
thematic initiatives for open research data and services through the development of appropriate common tools and mechanisms
• support the gradual alignment of policies and practices of EOSC-relevant national and/or thematic initiatives to EOSC standards
• enable EOSC-relevant, non-commercial services to be accessed through the EOSC portalIt is envisaged that this project will receive funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 857641
