Silhouette

The shape of a clothing style. It is formed by the length and width of each part of the Garment.

Silhouettes are always changing in Fashion. The general direction that a silhouette takes shows a Fashion Trend. (Wider, Narrow, Longer, Shorter)

Fit

Refers to how Tight or Loose it is on the person who is wearing it.

Garments can be designed to be: Loose Semi-fitted Fitted

Seams

Lines of stitches that join two garment pieces together.

Tailored Garments

Made by first cutting garment pieces and then sewing them together to fit the shape of the body.

First tailored garments were made when the needle was invented.

Composite Garments

Made with a combination of Tailored and Draped Methods. Some parts may fit close to the body, and some are draped. Folds of fabric may hang loosely from the shoulders, waist, or hips.
