BRITAINS INSPIRATIONEditors letter

So here I am, my mind has gone blank and I am try-ing to write this letter and I haven’t got any inspiration, the weather, well it’s snowing and yes Britain has shut down, buses trains and cars are going nowhere, walking anywhere is near impossible, yes the weather that is all people or talking about, its driving me mad! Think I’m getting cabin fever now! Seeming No one is go-ing anyway quickly and I’m snowed in, at my parents in the countryside and leaving the house isn’t really an option................Just been putting some clothes that I don’t want any more, into a charity bag for OXFAM I came across this blazer that had been placed neatly folded at the bottom, a navy blue military blazer with gold buttons. It didn’t really seem like anything someone in my family would wear but I ask my mum and its turns out this jacket is my dad’s, something he had been given as a gift an unwanted gift, but anyway enough with the story, this got me thinking about if he’s willing to give a nice jacket like that to charity what else are people giving away. People always think charity shops, Mmmmm you know what I’m thinking...So I’m setting myself a little mission for when I get back home to Newcastle or even out of the house to, find something like the little gem that my dad has donated to OXFAM,

I’m curious of what I might find.

"Too many guys think I'm a concept, or I com-plete them, or I'm gon-na make them alive. But I'm just a fucked-up girl who's looking' for my own peace of mind; don't assign me yours."

“People should look like people; I’m a true fan of natural beauty, but we all need a lit-tle face paint from time to time, even you guys, stealing your girlfriends to cover up that spot.”

REFLEXING YOU

Get charity shopping

Desire eccentric, innovative clothing without forking out a fortune?

During these times when cash is low and costs are high,

consider charity shops. Yes, they may seem doubting and unattractive,

but keep an open mind

and see past the mothballs and string vests,

which is an unfair conclusion most of us put upon our local charity shops.

Having the creative flair to pull those outfits together can result in

something amazing and unique. However scanning racks upon racks of

granddad jumpers and eighties tees isn’t such a fine talent it’s just

something that needs to be done!

You may not always find something in every charity shop; it can be hit and miss but drive through this, keeping looking.

Go to a charity shop in quite a wealthy area because of the better quality clothes there. And once you’ve found those items you’ll be

onto a gold mine of clothing with personality

Look for those1980s and 1990s linen-mix jackets, wools and denims. They work well with high street fashions and can be mixed with tailored pieces, even if you find something you like and it’s not your size it’s easy enough to adjust a blazer or trouser with the knowhow, or just find you local tailoring service, what you may spend here may add up to the same cost of the high street prices sometimes but you’re getting a one off, made just for you!

Everything that is in this fashion shoot is bought and altered for our model Johnny, this is what we pulled together from our local charity shops in and around Newcastle Upon Tyne, looking down those side lanes and places just outside the city centre really did result in some fantastic finds!

*TUX

Sometimes disapprovingly called thepenguin suit, those with any disrespect for this wonderful creation should think again. As a result of the tuxedo, a gentleman at-tending a formal gathering never has to put an ounce of thought into what he will wear.

The tuxedo is one of many reasons why it is great to be a man.

And with winter well and truly here the night’s drawing in the darkness descends, but it’s not all in doom and gloom, it’s time for the formal occasion invites to start flooding in, well your work do, at the least.

The first designs date back to Victorian Britain, created for royalty and London’s high socially, this English style and tailoring enjoys worldwide praise, and rightly so. The then new tailless formal wear was said to have been designed by the Prince of Wales, his tailor drew inspiration from the British military uniforms of the time, which used short jackets with black ties.

The traditional Tuxedo, if you have never encountered one before is truly scary, you will have to familiarize yourself with all its components. DUKE is here to show you the 2011 Black tie look, with its mix of

traditional and

modern cuts.

Ultimately, while, there is no substitute for becoming

your own black-tie expert, learning the foundations of thetuxedo and choose what suit you best, drawing inspiration from celebrity or current trends will give you great help in choosing the perfect black tie wear!

The Jacket, normally black but this isn’t set in stone, reflex you, The jacket should either have a one-button single breasted, or 4 button 2 fastening double breasted front, with satin covered lapels, the rest of the details or your choice this is a versatile addition to any gent’s wardrobe. The shirt must be white with double cuffs and a wing collar, but aside from that the style can be quite flexible. Shirts are an unquestionable essential for any gent; fashion forward people have been seen wearing the wing collar shirt with leather jackets and jeans, try this yourself. The regular black trousers with a satin side seam will be adequate, but tailoring has been revival in recent years so DUKE recommends Trying a skinny or carrot fit trouser, find the perfect cut that suits you, look at all styles and cuts. From quirky pattern printed bow ties to the black silk classic each are bang on trend for 2011 and can been seen on such celebrities as David Beckham and on the catwalks of London.
