BENEFITS ADVISOR
I would like to extend to you and your family my sincere best wishes for a Blessed Merry Christmas and a Holy
Happy New Year.
The meaning of Christmas is always remembering that Christ was born on that day to bring forth his message
of peace and good will. The meaning of Christmas is sharing, caring and living in love all year through. It is
showing forgiveness and helping each other with kindness in all that we do. It is blessing the lives of the
strangers we meet as well as the ones we hold dear and close to our hearts.
These are the reasons the meaning of Christmas is meant for each day of the year.
Again, have a Blessed Merry Christmas and Holy Happy New Year.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Tim

KNIGHTS HEALTH CORNER
Topic for January 2017: New Year’s Resolutions to get fit or lose weight
Brothers All,
The following link https://www.myfitnesspal.com/ and the app for your phone is a free way to track your calories
intake.
I track my calories in order to keep my weight off or to remind myself of the huge calories in thanksgiving and
Christmas dinners. Not to mention the cookies and deserts, yum yum!
However, I find more restraint if I track my calories than when I am not tracking them. This is only one way to
lose or maintain my weight.
6
Small changes to your eating habits (diet) can have larger implications. I suggest that an increase in water
intake will help to maintain your weight and help your overall health. If you drink 1 eight ounce glass of water
before each meal the chances of overeating are reduced. This is a good practice for your joints will thank you
as well.
Add movement to your resolution. Newton's First Law of Motion states that a body at rest will remain at rest
unless an outside force acts on it, and a body in motion at a constant velocity will remain in motion in a
straight line unless acted upon by an outside force. This also applies to our bodies. If we become sedentary
our bodies try to stiffen up and quit moving. Get out and move it helps your overall health.
Exercising and eating better goes hand in hand. Eating better does not need to be flavorless.
Here is the recipe I use to make Mexican seasoning it is delicious for a heart healthy no salt flavoring. This I
use for tacos, soups, and to spice up salads. Enjoy!
Mexican seasoning (makes about ¼ cup)
2 tablespoons chili powder (add more for increased heat)
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon granulated or powdered garlic
1 teaspoon granulated or powdered onion
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Optional 1 teaspoon of paprika for a smoke flavor
Mix ingredients and cover for use anytime you want some Mexican flavoring.
As always please see your Doctor before starting any new exercise program.
Please let me know if you would like a specific topic of heath discussed for next month. I will do the research
and submit my finding to the next newsletter.
Henry Fair, MS
GRAND KNIGHTS CORNER
Thank you to all fellow Knights who have actively participated in our annual events throughout 2016 and a re-
minder to track your hours for the Annual Report of Fraternal Activity due to our financial secretary before the
end of January so that Brother Dick can compile a complete list of our total participation for the year and sub-
mit to Supreme prior to the end of January 2017.
I need five other Knights in tuxedos to assist with ushering duties for the Midnight Mass at Saint Mary Church
this coming Saturday, December 24, 2016, with a show time of not later than 11:00PM. We will perform the
usher/greeter duties normally performed by our other parishioners during weekly mass. If you can help, please
call me the Grand Knight at 850-225-6705 not later than Thursday, December 22 do that I can ensure our suc-
cessful support to the church.
Again, my thanks to all of you who have given your time and talent to support our various programs during
2016 and look forward to carry out our responsibilities into the new year. My wish to you for a very Merry
Christmas and a prosperous New Year ahead!
Steve Williams, Grand Knight, Council#4444
FINANCIAL SECRETARY / VOCATIONS DIRECTOR
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my Brothers and their families! Our new President will probably not be quoted as
saying, “We are no longer a Christian nation”. This bodes well for all the Knights and their mission.
ANNUAL SURVEY: You are a Knight. You are supposed to be making a difference in the fight against secu-
larism. This monthly issue contains the Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity Form. I ask every one of you to
please fill it out and get it to me during the course of this month. I must send it off to Supreme by January
31st. All church and charitable activities you have performed during the year should be summarized on this
sheet and then I will take it from there to add some dollar figures and total up all your hours, visits, and
blood drive contributions. If you have nothing to report, then SHAME ON YOU.
7
DUES: Dues notices are being sent out soon to ALL Knights. Included will be an incentive to receive free raffle
tickets to our 4th Wednesday in February SPAGHETTI DINNER drawing (22nd) by paying your dues IN ADVANCE or
for just being an Honorary Life Member. Details in next month’s bulletin AND in your coming dues notice.
CHRISTMAS PARTY: Were you there? We had 60 diners, including 4 priests, 2 deacons, and the rest of us who
topped off the party season in the true Christmas spirit. Unless you were out of town or with limited mobility or
disabled, you should have at least made the effort to come to this most wonderful gathering of the year of your
Brother Knights. “Well I don’t know very many of them” or “I am a new member” one might be
heard saying. And why is this that you never came? Because you don’t come to meetings or other gather-
ings? You know we now have only one meeting a month. Anyway, how about making a NEW YEAR’S RESOLU-
TION and step- up your membership activity a notch or two (even if it’s at ZERO now). Volunteer to work in our
next Tootsie Roll Drive. Take over the Pancake Breakfast Program. Help at BINGO this winter. Rent the
Hall. Redo our fading signage around the hall. Help bartend at big functions. Make some phone calls to our old-
er members and see how they are doing. Call the Church office and volunteer in the name of the Knights. Work
the Soup Kitchen on Fridays. Good grief! If you aren’t doing anything but being a couch potato and especially if
you are retired, how about taking that first step and calling our Grand Knight, Steve Williams and talking to
him? 850-225-6705. You’ll be glad you did!
TRUSTEE REPORT
No report - PGK Larry Bonck, PGK Tim Perks and PGK Jay Arnold
Sunday Rosary and Chili Cook Off. Sunday, January 29, the 5th Sunday Rosary will be held at the
council hall followed by a Chili Cook Off dinner. Everyone is invited to come pray the rosary and bring
your best chili to share. There will be a contest for the best chili. There two categories. The first category
is the best chili chosen by the council chili “Electoral College” committee. The second category is the
“best” chili chosen by “popular vote.” The popular vote contest cost 25 cent a ticket or 6 tickets for a
dollar. So, you can vote often for your “flavor-rite” chili. The prize for the winners is a $25 gift to the Crab
Shack Restaurant donated by Bro Emil Pagliari. If you are not a Chili chef, just come pray the rosary and
enjoy a chili dinner. We will have extra “house” chili so everyone gets to eat. There will be hot dogs avail-
able for non-chili lovers. Of course, there will be make your own root beer floats.
Christmas Raffle Thank You. Special thanks to everyone who supported the Christmas Raffle. Many
members mailed in your tickets. Approximately 40 individuals (not all KofC members) bought tickets
resulting in a profit for the council of $500. The winners were: $10 prize: Deacon Dan McAuliffe; $20
prize: PGK Ray Schlitt; $50 Gift Certificate to the Crab Shack Restaurant: Mike Brennan; and the Grand
Prize of 2 nights, 2 breakfasts, & dinner at Four Points by Sheraton: Chris Gent. Special thanks to PGK
Karl VanEtten for securing the grand prize at Four Points by Sheraton, and Bro. Emil Pagliari for the $50
gift certificate at Crab Shack Restaurant.
Looking forward to 2017, we will conduct a special 50/50 raffle along the same lines as the Christ-
mas raffle except the four prizes will be all cash prizes. Hopefully our snowbird visitors will participate.
The drawing will be Wednesday, Feb 22, at a spaghetti dinner at the council hall. If you purchase a mini-
mum of $20, you and your immediate family can eat FREE at the spaghetti dinner. Otherwise, it is $5 per
dinner. Remember we recently changed the council bylaws to have these types of events on the 4th
Wednesdays of the month. This is also the last Wednesday before lent begins.
There will also be an incentive to pay all your 2017 dues by the end of January 2017 to receive FREE
50/50 tickets. More information to follow in your due’s notices and next month’s bulletin.

Family Christmas Party and Parade: Thanks
to everyone who came to the Family Christ-
mas Party on Sunday, Dec 4, and the
Christmas Parade on Dec 6. The children
enjoyed the SpaceWalk and games. Every-
one consumed their fill of pizza and root
beer floats. Thanks to PKG Tim Perks and
DW Jay Arnold for leading up the floating
decorating. Thanks to Bea and Jerry Collins
for the
use of their trailer as the council float.
Thanks Bro Tim Vierira for getting and setting
up the SpaceWalk in the large hall and his
family for riding our float in the parade. Others
that helped were Bros Robert Ridgway, Bob
Brady, Brain Muskus (who took care the paper-
work with the Chamber of Commerce), John
Lucenti, GK Steve Williams, PKG Gil Holliday,
PKG Chuck Schaefer and PKG Tony Holland.
Special thanks to their spouses, children and
family members. There was a great team effort by
everyone to get the sled out of the attic in the large
hall.
Hopefully I did not leave anyone out. Both events were a lot of fun.

FR. HOWARD J. LESCH ASSEMBLY 1564
On Sunday, January 22, 2017, the Assembly Color Corp. is requested for the Catholic Renewal Conference at
Holy Name of Jesus in Niceville. The Bishop will be in attendance and we are asked to arrive at 10:30 am.
At the last Council meeting on the 14th of December, the subject of my request for a space to store 100 wheel
chairs was discussed. As this was a request to the Assembly, the Council leadership agreed to lend any assis-
tance to the Assembly needed and concurred with me that we have the space and should volunteer our re-
sources to assist in the very important tasking from our State Director for VAVS and the Florida District Fourth
Degree. I sent a return email offering our assistance in storing the wheel chairs.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, especially Council #44 and its leadership, for their as-
sistance this past year and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
Dick Olson, Faithful Comptroller -
Sir Knights, our whole group of Christmas Partyers was dismayed to hear that neither of you and your ladies
could make it to last evening’s function. We announced the “reason” as we best we knew why and took time to
include you all in our prayers. No less than 4 priests and 2 deacons were present to lead us in prayer.
On the financial end, a firm commitment was made to the hotel to accommodate 59 paid-for diners. We had
55 attend. Four short of we had to pay for. I respectfully ask that you decline the Assembly’s reimbursement
of your $50.00 back to you to help us balance the budget. No reply is necessary unless you feel reimbursement
to you is warranted.
Merry Christmas!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
