Instructions for Using Popplet

Steps for Creating an Account

1. Open your web browser and go to www.popplet.com.

2. In the top right corner of your screen, click on “Create Account” then add the delineated information 

and agree to the “Terms of Service”.

3. It is recommended that you scroll through the  informational slides that introduce Popplet.

4. Once you have finished the review of general information, then select “Take Me to Popplet.”

Creating a Popplet

1. Return to the Popplet web site and log in to your account.

2. On the left side of the page, click “Make New Popplet.”

3. You should now see “Make a New Popplet” box  appear.

4. You can create a name for you Popplet by typing it in the box.

5. Select a color for your Popplet that will be the background color of your concept map.

6. Click “Make It So” to create your new Popplet and your Popplet will appear on the screen.

7. Your Popplet will now appear on the screen.

8. Double click anywhere on the screen to create your first popple (Popplet’s word for bubble.)

9. Click on the Popple and type in your text.

10. To add another popple, select one of the four gray circles surrounding the popple, then click and drag 

the gray circle either up, down, or to the left or right. 

11. You can change the outline of each popple by selecting the oval shape located at the bottom left of the 

frame.

12. You can increase or decrease the size of the font by clicking on the “A” located towards the bottom 

right of the popple you wish to change.  

13. Other options include that you can draw inside the Popple by selecting the pencil icon. A variety of 

colors will be available to use in your drawing.

14. It is also possible to embed a video or image into your Popplet.  Select the landscape icon towards the 

bottom right underneath the popple frame. You need to select a photo or video to upload into your 

popple frame. 

15. If you go to the YouTube route, you will get a pop-up window that allows you to search for a specific 

topic. Once you find a video you like, then you click and drag over to the frame.

16. You can click on the corner to resize the selected frame. You need to first click on the popple, then the 

arrows will appear on the sides.

17. If you click on the “A” located towards the bottom middle of the popple, then you can add more text.

18. To delete a popple, select the “X” located towards the top left.  A pop-up window will appear asking if 

you are sure you want to delete it.  

19. You can add a note by clicking on the note icon located above the popple frame.

20. Continue this process until you have added all of your information.

21. You have additional options available by selecting the gear icon towards the top left of your screen.
