JUBEL, meaning ‘rejoicing’ in Swedish, is a fantastic plant pot that waters yourflowers for you. Well, actually, you fill it with water through the hole in the outer pot, and theplant regulates how much water it needs itself. Smart, isn’t it? Even smarter is that JUBEL comesin different sizes and also has an inner pot in red, green and yellow. Just turn the inner pot andchange the look to suit the season, your mood, the room, whatever.

Made of steel and available in turquoise or grey, the rolling newRÅSKOG trolley is a big help in the kitchen, dining room, living room,bathroom, wherever. Load it with pots, pans, water bottles or evenbaking ingredients. Then wheel it where you want it.

”RÅSKOG trolley was inspired by typical industrial trolleys, like the onesyou used to find in factories,” says designer Nike Karlsson. “There’ssomething about the rustic qualities and the honesty of these objectsthat I like, and that creates a sense of nostalgic yearning. I also like thefact that they’re very functional, almost like a tool in their own right.”

Before designer Johanna Jelinek even knew she was going to design achair, a technician team was busy with a construction challenge – to have achair with small legs that maintained the highest possible stability and easyassembly.

After about 20 attempts the technicians found a material and constructionthat had everything. Then it was time for Johanna to start designing theseat.

Luckily, Johanna was also part of a team investigating how to improvelayer-glued wood. Thanks to her expertise in how the material can be used,we found a somewhat softer and more organic form for the seat. The one-piece form both encircles and supports the back, and rocks gently due tothe layer-glued wood. That’s what makes it even more comfortable.With five dollhouse-sized prototypes, Johanna presented her ideas. All theproduct developers gathered to decide, discuss and vote which would bemade into a model. When the choice was made, the chair was sent to themodel shop next door to be produced in full-scale. Discussions were alsounderway about what finish the chair should have that would suit both thedesign and a demanding everyday life.

It’s most common to lacquer chairs. But a lacquered surface is not asdurable and its sensitivity can lead to scratches from things like the rivetson jeans. That’s why we made the last layer in the layer-glued wood seatusing the same type of laminate that is used for kitchen worktops.That’s when it happened. Someone broke out with, “If we make the chairsin laminate, we can put patterns on them!” Why didn’t we think of that fromthe beginning? Johanna returned to the drawing board, this time to designpatterns for VILMAR. Lucky for us again, she’s educated as a textiledesigner and a few days later came back with no fewer than 36 patterns.There were stripes and checks, thick and thin, in colour and black andwhite. We chose three patterns that easily combined with chairs in oak,birch, brown-black, white and red.

We had a hard time picking a favourite among all the VILMAR variations.That’s the way it should be so that everyone can choose their own favouriteto park around the dining table.

Luck, layers and laminate VILMAR chair VILMAR chairs aren’t just stylish and

stackable. They’re durable, too. Their layer-glued wood seats are made of the same type of laminate used in kitchen worktops.

That’s my chair! Everyone can bring a favourite chair to the dining table from the bold patterns and colours of VILMAR chairs.
