IntroDUCIng the shUVee® UltraVIolet Shoe DeoDorIzer Ultraviolet light technology has been utilized to fight germs in hospitals, nursing homes, and other sensitive environments for years. Similar technology is now available for home use.

The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer is designed to channel the power of UV light to clean the surface areas inside your shoes. no chemicals or other biological agents are used in this process. The pure cleaning power of UV light, along with a short period of time, is all that is needed to clean the inside of your shoes. This typically dark, damp area is a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus that can attack the feet and cause foul odors.

gettIng StarteD

Place The shUVee® base on a fl at secure surface away from any liquids, such as water. next, while holding The shUVee® wands with both hands, gently attach The shUVee® wands to the base with a rocking motion as shown in the diagram at right (Fig. 1) until a click sound is heard indicating attachment. Finally, plug The shUVee® power adapter to The shUVee® base and then plug the power adapter into a grounded wall outlet. a red light should turn On at the base indicating that The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer is in standby mode.

Congratulations! You are now ready to use The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer.

Using the shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer

attentIon: Please read directions completely.

When cleaning any type of shoe it is recommended that the included shoe bags be used at all times. neVer look inside your shoes or the shoe bags after activating The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer. The weight of your shoe will activate the ultraviolet light, and exposure to it could damage your eyes and skin. You will know the UV light is activated when the blue lights on The shUVee® base are illuminated indicating your shoes are being cleaned.

There is no need to look inside your shoe or the shoe bag to see if the device is

working. Please allow The shUVee® to rest for at least fifteen minutes between uses.

The following directions are intended for shoes. For boots, please refer to section, “Using the shUVee® with boots” on page 10. For sandals, open-toe shoes, and children’s shoes, please refer to section “Using the shUVee® with Sandals, open-toe Shoes and Children’s Shoes” on pages 10 and 11.

USIng the shUVee® WIth ShoeS

1. Place your shoes on The shUVee® wands as shown in the picture (Fig. 2) on page 9. Make sure that your shoes fit securely so they depress the black caps at the top of both wands.

2. Press and hold the black power button for five (5) seconds on The shUVee®


base. When the green and blue lights turn On, indicating the advanced UV light is ready, release the black power button. The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer is now activated and is deodorizing your shoes.

3. The deodorizing process starts working in 30 minutes but for best results it is recommended that you leave your shoes on The shUVee® for at least two hours for a normal cleaning session. Most shoes will be deodorized in two hours although some shoes may require longer.

4. When the cleaning process is complete, remove your shoes from The shUVee®

wands. The UV light will automatically turn off as you remove your shoes. Press and release the black power button to return to standby mode.

Remember to unplug The shUVee® when not in use to extend device life.


To increase the longevity of The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer, remember to unplug the power adapter from the wall when The shUVee® is not in use.

USIng the shUVee® WIth bootS 1. On the back of each shoe wand is a

black button (Fig. 3). Pressing this button as shown allows you to extend the height of the shoe wands to accommodate boots.

2. Follow steps 1 through 4 on pages 8 and 9 to use The shUVee® with boots.

USIng the shUVee® WIth YoUr SanDalS, open-toe ShoeS or Children’S ShoeS

1. Make sure The shUVee® is in standby mode, the red light on the base should be illuminated.

2. Position your sandal, open-toe shoe, or children’s shoe* on each shoe wand.

3. Place one (1) shoe bag over each shoe or sandal as shown in Fig. 4.

4. Follow steps 1 – 4 on pages 8 and 9.

*We advise the use of shoe bags when deodorizing infant and toddler shoes; approximate children’s shoe sizes 0 – 10.

Do not look inside the shoe bags once the green and blue lights are on. Failure to follow this specific instruction may result in dangerous exposure to UV light.

Place one shoe bag on each sandal, open-toe shoe or children’s shoe.

reCommenDeD USage

For best deodorizing results, we suggest you that you leave your shoes on The shUVee® for at least two hours for a normal cleaning session. Most shoes will be fully deodorized in this time. However, real-world conditions vary and different levels of treatment may be required for full elimination of odor depending on your shoes and their usage. Please refer to the recommended treatments graph on page 14 for suggested odor elimination treatments.

freQUent QUeStIonSDo I really need The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer?Each foot possesses 250,000 sweat glands producing up to a pint of sweat each in a single day. That’s a lot of food for

the common bacteria that cause foot odor. Do you need The shUVee®? ask your nose.

How dangerous is the ultraviolet light in The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer?The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer is safe for use by your whole family. Ultraviolet, or UV, light is produced by the sun. When you walk outside you expose yourself to UV light naturally. Just as with the sun, prolonged exposure can damage your skin and no one should ever look directly into the sun. For these same reasons, we strongly warn against exposing The shUVee®’s UV light to your skin or looking directly into the light.


How do I know that The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer is working?after holding down the power button for 5 seconds and placing shoes on the wands; the blue indicator lights located on the base will illuminate indicating that The shUVee® is working. The light will not turn on if the UV light is not engaged. Do not peer into your shoe or shoe bag to see if the UV light is on. If the blue indicator light does not turn on, review the “getting Started” section on page 7.

pleaSe note: Just as prolonged exposure can damage your skin and no

one should ever look directly into the sun, we strongly warn against exposing The shUVee®’s UV light to your skin or looking

directly into the light.

When do I use the shoe bags?The shUVee® shoe bags are designed for

use with sandals, open-toed shoes, and children’s shoes. For added protection from UV light, you may use the shoe bags whenever you use The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer. Please refer to Page 10: USIng the shUVee® with your SanDalS, open-toe ShoeS, And Children’S ShoeS for instructions on using the Shoe Bags.

Why won’t my shoe fi t in the shoe bag?The shUVee® bags are not necessary for use with shoes and boots. The shUVee® bags have been specifi cally designed to block UV light when used with sandals, open-toe shoes or children’s shoes.

How do I clean The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer? You can wipe the unit with a clean damp cloth. DO nOT immerse the unit in water or it will destroy the electrical components


and possibly cause electric shock.

Can I clean or deodorize things other than shoes with The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer?Though specifically designed for use with shoes, you may deodorize or clean other items, such as boxing gloves or ice skates, with The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer. Please use caution whenever you use The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer as prolonged exposure to UV light can damage eyes and skin.

How do I know that The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer worked?Your nose is the best guide for knowing that The shUVee® has done its job. The shUVee® is designed to take aim at common microorganisms like Athlete’s Foot fungus and bacteria responsible for embarrassing foot odor in shoes. Lab

tests show The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer kills over 99% of common foot dwelling pathogens when used for at least two consecutive hours.

UV light is naturally produced by the Sun. It is impossible for UV light to damage shoes. normal wear and tear of shoes will occur with general wear and use and is not contributable to The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer. The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer is not responsible for any damage to your shoes. The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer is intended to treat the fungus that causes Athlete’s Foot as well as common odor causing bacteria InSIDE YOUR SHOE. The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodorizer cannot treat infections or other problems with your feet. If you are experiencing issues with your feet we strongly recommend discussing those issues with a doctor.

The UV Bulb is a specially created bulb made specifically for The shUVee®. It contains elements subject to broad price fluctuations. Please note that replacement parts cannot be shipped outside the United States.

hoW to replaCe UltraVIolet lIght bUlbS on the shUVee®

1. Remove top of wand by gently unscrewing the clear and black plastic housing around the UV bulb counter clockwise.

2. Carefully remove the bulb by pulling the bulb out of the socket. Do not twist the bulb.

3. Insert the new bulb into the socket. Be careful to insert the bulb in the socket by aligning the socket to the base of the bulb.

4. Replace the clear and black plastic housing on the top of wand and turn clockwise to tighten.

5. There is no need to test the bulb. When two bulbs are inserted into the unit and functioning properly The shUVee® will work as indicated.

Remember to place your shoes on top of the wands and PRESS and HOLD the ON/OFF button for five (5) seconds. After five (5) seconds the blue “UV activated” indicator light on base will light up, showing that The shUVee® is now working.
