Comprehensive

Blogs can support all other curricular areas

Blogging alone supports the majority of the district’s technology standards

Add some other Web 2.0 tools to create blogging content, and now all of the technology standards are met

Organization

Blogs can be thought of as an interactive journal or portfolio of student work

Students use the blog to reflect on learning, publish their writing, illustrations, scanned work, and any other web-based media

The blog is easy to organize so work can’t get lost in backpacks or at home.

Convenient

Students can use any available computer with internet connectivity to work on assignments

Teachers can use the blogs to access work from convenient locations as well

Make comments and suggestions to students that can be easily accessed later

Blogs require very little computing power; inexpensive computers, microcomputers, and even smart phones can be used

Powerful

Utilize the resource of the entire teaching community to give constructive feedback to student work

Parents can become a part of the learning process like never before- even those who work during the day

Other stakeholders, such as business leaders, can collaborate on meaningful, authentic projects.
