However, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Transport Dikeledi Magadzi has called for capacity to be enhanced at all the parastatals administered by the department.“Governance instability and financial mismanagement at any of the entities should not be tolerated, as they impact on the operations of entities and on service delivery,” Magadzi said.She was concerned that during the audit process, the Auditor General raised a lack of accountability, capacity and slow response in implementing recommendations.“Emphasis should shift to ensuring strong leadership, and continuous financial training for senior officials and those in procurement and supply chain management,” Magadzi said. –SAnews.gov.za

In their inaugural year, the MEA’s seek to discover/ celebrate/ honour the talents and skills of individuals whose work across different fields, help to uplift communities, build societies, change mentalities and inspire spirits.

Mpumalanga’s excelling citizens may be spread across the country and the rest of the world, but it is here, at home, where their work has the most impact, as each good deed, inspire a hundred more of young minds that were in doubt of their abilities, into 100 young minds determined to change their lives in spite of their circumstances.

The Mpumalanga Excellence Awards were launched after discovering the need to appreciate and honour Mpumalanga citizens who are excelling in their chosen fields while developing their communities.

With different categories, spread across various fields, the MEA's seek to encourage citizens of Mpumalanga to be the ones spearheading the growth and development of the communities of the Province.

Communities will have the liberty to nominate their chosen candidates and the MEA Committee will accept all nominations, which will then be put through a selection process, leaving ten nominees for each category, from whom the four official nominees will be chosen, with one ultimate winner announced on the night of the awards.

There are a lot of awards categories to choose from each with sub categories ranging from Business Excellence Award, Young Entrepreneur Award, Best Private/ Public Partnership initiative, Woman in business Award, Excellence in Sports, Excellence in Media Award, Best Practice Award, Excellence in Marketing and Communications, Mpumalanga Excellence Award.

he DCSR held the Club Development Cup games on TSaturday 17 October 2015 at

Masenkeni Stadium to encourage and assist clubs with football equipment.

The games included Basketball (played at Nqubeko Secondary School), Netball (PR Combined School) and Football which was based at Masenkeni Stadium.

was contested by club from KwaNgema-Dirkiesdorp Promotion League after reaching the final. The final was a derby made in KwaNgema a mere 50km from the Mkhondo CBD and produced entertainment for the fans who came in number to support their clubs.

The match was won by HiFi FC who came back from a goal down to win the match 2-1. The champions walked away with a bran new soccer kit and gold medals.

The other finalist received silver medals and were promised that they will also receive a soccer kit from the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation.
