The Gaming Industry, MY industry is dying…

Pikachu does not approve!

It’s, unfortunately, not very effective.

Games have become lackluster and repetitive, with Publishers producing

Cookie Cutter games for profit.

Playstation, and Nintendo hold all of my childhood in hands that grow more tainted by the current gaming industry by the day.

The games that I loved as a child, are disappearing, only to be replaced with

the next Call of Duty.




I want to make the games that made me a gamer, the ones that truly hold meaning for me and many others. To do this, I want to

travel and live in gaming’s birthplace, Japan.

Video games have always been important to me as an escape. They offer freedom, and in doing so change my perception of this

world and others.



My name is Kevin Fitzgerald, and video games are my life.



Languages are a strength, and passion of mine,

whether they are coding, or real.

Japanese, and C++ to

name only two I am fluent in.

My ultimate strength! I have played more video games than many of you have even

ever heard of, every genre imaginable. My library isn’t in the hundreds, it’s in the thousands.



Developer or Designer? Why can’t I be both?

I want to have a say in the creative process, and I have what it takes to design enemies,

bosses, and levels with the best of them.


I am not without my flaws however… I’m not what you would call a “people” person.

There is a difference between being alone and being lonely, I am the former.

I am a gamer, that means I embody all the good and the bad that comes

with the title.

Laziness and procrastination, along with daydreaming are the flaws of a

gamer.



I’m sure you would agree the last few slides have been less than

flattering…

But, I have turned these weaknesses into strength.


Cold and harsh, into pragmatic and realistic.

Lazy procrastinator into careful and prepared.



Unsocial and introverted into… well the gaming industry takes care of that for me with the rise of the indie Developers.


Therefore, the future is very bright for me, and these small dedicated teams of true gamers.


SGP, an infamous class at Full Sail University, where I learned what it really meant to make

games, by making one.

My actual work experience, though limited, was thorough and arguably unbeatable.


Pre-production, Alpha, Beta, and Gold, the 4 stages that drained my small group of 4’s, blood and sweat, but not tears, because

Game Dev doesn’t cry.

16 hour work days – leads to a lot of frustration and anger

My Ideal Work Environment

Surrounded by a few dedicated professionals, who aren’t to distant to ask for help from, and care about my progress.


If forced into a social work environment, I tend to work much better with those who can stand my

offensive humor, and can take a joke.

I am human, and do enjoy someone letting me know I have done a good job. Don’t gloss over my

achievements, and I won’t ignore yours.

That company must be a Japanese company, one that specializes in localization.

I want to be in an employee role, and work for a standard profit company. Afterall, Bills

have to be paid.




A small apartment in Japan, a stable job as a localization expert, and enough money to pay off my debts and support my addiction

known as gaming. That is the definition of success to me.
