Tell Them From Me Student Surveys-Term 3

This term, our school is taking part in the Tell Them FromMe student survey. The survey will provide us with valuablefeedback on what our students think about school life, howengaged they are with school and the different ways thatteachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and aroundthe world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to helpthem improve. The survey is completed on-line and is run byan independent research company, The Learning Bar, whichspecialises in school-based surveys.

Staff in schools will not be able to identify individual studentsfrom their responses. To ensure confidentiality, participatingstudents will receive a unique username and password. Wherefewer than five students respond to a question, the results willbe suppressed. The survey typically takes 30 minutes or less tocomplete and will be administered by the school during normalschool hours. Once the surveys are completed by students,

• remove the subscription

• open the app again

• choose ‘Asia Pacific’

• search Kensington Public School

• After the groups appear, click ‘save’ in the topright-hand corner

reports are prepared and in most cases are available to schoolswithin three business days.

This survey will help our school better understand how toimprove student wellbeing and engagement. It will help theschool identify what works to improve student outcomes.

Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary. Your child will nottake part if either you or your child do not wish. If, during thesurvey, your child is uncomfortable, he/she can choose to stopthe survey at any time. The majority of questions in the surveycan be skipped.

If you do not want your child to take part in the survey, pleasecomplete the attached form and return it to your child's schoolby Friday August 17 (Week 4).

The 2018 Nationally Consistent Collectionof Data (The NCCD)

The data willbe used to provide governments, schools and educationauthorities with an evidence base about students with disabilityin Australian schools, where they are and the level ofadjustments that are provided for them to participate inschooling on the same basis as other students. It will also beused as input to policy development for future funding andother policy requirements.

Stage 3 CampLast week, as a part of our unit on Australian Government,Stage Three students attended an exciting and informativecamp in Canberra and the Thredbo Snowfields. After an earlystart from school, we first stopped at the historical town ofBerrima for a short break.

The students continued on to various venues includingCockington Gardens, a miniature model village including someinternational models of famous buildings, Old ParliamentHouse, The National War Memorial Museum and a tour of thecurrent Parliament House.

On day two, students moved onto the Thredbo Snowfields inThe Kosciuszko National Park for a chair life ride and a fun-filledafternoon in the snow.

Day three saw Stage Three visiting the CSIRO and Questacon, where we discovered the WiFi and Aeroguard are Australianinventions and the types of forces that keep aeroplanes aloft.

In all, everyone enjoyed the trip and a big thank you to MrsRobertson, Ms Holt, Ms Kane and Mr England for thesupervision and care of all the students.

The Canberra excursion was partially supplemented by thesupport of the Australian Government through the PACERcontribution.
