Get comfortable and relax because mi casa, su casa. In order to make your experience more pleasurable this book has been divided into easily digestible parts, Photography and Graphic Design; which are divided into even smaller morsels to make it easier to absorb all the yummy visual information. You can browse this by reading all the text and viewing all the work or, like me, just look at all the images and pretend you read the text; whatever is more comfortable to you of course. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have making it. Welcome to the home of my work.

minorde edad.My creative roots are dug into literature, but I started to branch out to the visual arts when I was trying to impress this really hot girl who was a photographer and model.
Well of course it didn’t work! But I stuck with it. I heard that girls really adore photographers.
Until I found out it was a lie.

miamor.I loved photography so much that when we migrated to Auckland from the Philippines, I decided to shift from trying to be a writer to try and be a visual artist.
I’ve studied both film and digital ways of photography specialising in black and white photographs.
This strong focus in composition and layout gave me a good foundation in graphic design. Not to mention my soft-spot for editorial shots.
2007color.I arrived in Auckland and got a freelance job to take photographs for this dye-colouring shop in New Lynn.
The brief was to present the place as nice and friendly and also to keep true to their namesake ‘The Color Factory’.
The work I did was mainly for their gallery page that page visitors can see the place and the staff. But I also took some of the photos used in their front page showcasing their product.
It’s always great going to shoots like this since you get to learn new stuff and meet others.
2008textura.
The owner liked my work so he hired me again to do another shoot for his textile company, Streetwise Apparel.
The brief was simply to showcase their facilities and their diverse set of previous clients to prospective new ones.
Elegance and class were the key words of the project. Which is why I tried to emphasize on the deep reds and visceral textures of the fabric when taking the photographs.

2010escuela.Even though I focus in design in school these days, I still do some photos from time to time if needed, whether in the studio or outdoors.
I try to specialize in candid photos of people and events, and also of still life subjects and inanimate objects. The common thread between them is the intense emotions that those types of images can have.
And no I don’t like Twilight, we just had to work with the brief we were given. Somehow it turned out good.At least we didn’t make it sparkly.

vamos. They expose you to a lot of stuff in art school, design was one of them. And for me design was one of the things you try and get hooked on.Like sandwich.
In this section you’ll see some of my design experiments from the Mixtape CD covers on the right, to more playful designs I’ve played with like invites and mock-up book covers.
My school pieces are mostly for small experimentation and not so much part of a brief. It’s all about learning different skills and to be familiar with the different tools we could use to design.
Like inDesign for this portfolio.

niña.Learning about literature is one of those things that sticks with you for life.
Yeah, maybe that’s why there’s so much text in my portfolio.
So when there was an opportunity to mix my art, design, and writing, I immediately took it and went away with it. I came up with this cute kids colouring book, an anniversary gift for Michelle, my partner. It’s entitled ‘Missy’, her nickname as a child. I’ve made 4 of these books now.
It’s not really so much as I’m a cheap boyfriend as much as much as it’s because she really likes coloring books.
Honest.
si. 2010It just turns out that some local company decided to use the only two letters of the alphabet that shares two of the letters of my last name!
Since my very serendipitous meet with the owners of the business, I’ve managed their daily design collaterals like business cards, banners, and letterheads. I’ve also managed their logo redesign. This is where I also had to learn and make my own website in just under a week.
Working with them gave me great experience on how to liase with clients on my own, and how to work with tight deadlines and schedules in the context of the business world.
SOCIAL MEDIA CONSULTANCY
2011madre.Currently I’m my client is myself, trying to flesh out our family business’ brand and marketing.
The brief for the brand is to be sweet, lovable, and welcoming like a great mum should be. It also needs to retain a bit of class since customers need visual gurantee that they’re buying quality products.
With this project I’ve learned how to manage facebook fan pages, de-sign product packaging, and make brochures; not only with quality in mind, but cost effectiveness too.
2011telarañaLately I’ve been teaching myself to code for the web and as well as to design it. I’ve been mostly a graphic artist for print but I want to add to my skills and knowledge.
I’ve been working with an online board game shop and I’ve been helping them redesign and code their website through HTML and CSS, (and a bit of JavaScript). Which saved them the trouble of having to find a web developer.
This pretty much seals the fate of my eyes to be glued in front of the computer for more hours at a time.
No, I’m not complaining.

conclusion. Here’s hoping you skipped the lengthy text to just viewing the good stuff, the images and the ideas. After all, that’s what you’re here for. So if you like what you see or see what you like, please don’t hesitate and contact me; Maybe for a chat aboutpossible work opportunities, or to tell me how terribly dry the humour was in this portfolio.
Either way, It’s been a pleasure showing you my humble work, and somehow, my not so humble self.
Hasta la vista amigo.
