THE TR AN’S MI SS I ON Volume I, Issue 7 / District Convention 2013

Hello New Jersey Key Clubs!

As some of you may heard, the club Annual Achievement

Report Form is a summary of your club’s activities and achieve-

ments throughout the entire service year. Similar to a Club

Monthly Report Form, the AARF outlines all service projects, Ki-

wanis Family Relations, District Project Fundraisers and more that

your club has participated in. This form, issued by Key Club Inter-

national, is mandatory for all clubs to submit. This “year in review”

form is to be postmarked no later than March 15th. Nevertheless, it

is important for you to know why this report form is so crucial.

Clubs will not qualify for any District Convention contests or

scholarships unless this form is received.

The AARF itself is a contest: the results of the form determine

whether your club can qualify for a Bronze, Silver, Gold or

Platinum Achievement Award.

It updates the district on your club’s status and successes.

All AARFs are to be physically/snail mailed to:

Celina Baquiran

Contests Chairperson

2112 Gless Ave

Union, NJ 07083

Remember, all AARFs are to be postmarked by March 15th, 2013.

Should you have any questions, feel free to email Contests Chair-

person Celina at [email protected].

Yours in Caring and Service,

The Contests Committee

The 67th Annual New Jersey District Convention is coming up, which

means you have a chance to

show off your amazing hob-

bies, talents, or skills! Anyone

and everyone can audition!

There are a few rules while

preforming:

1. No act may exceed 6

minutes.

2. You MUST provide your

own resources, e.g. CDs,

props, iPods, instruments,

juggling equipment, can-

nonballs, etc.

3. Any singing routines must

have their song without

the lyrics on CD (unless

you are playing an instru-

ment as well), but must

have a copy of the lyrics for the judges.

4. All ask must be appropriate, not offensive, illicit, etc.

Any talents are encouraged to audition, not just singers/dancers/

instrumentalists!" If you have a crazy talent, come show it off! Fame

has to start somewhere! If you have any questions, please contact

Joseph Toumanios at [email protected].

Every Saturday morning at District Convention, a variety of

workshops are conducted to help enrich the minds and abili-

ties of Key Club members and officers throughout the district.

You can learn anything and everything from how to be an

outstanding president to how to dance like a true 1920s flap-

per. The work-shops at DCON also include an intro to Circle

K, college, and financial aid for interested members.

There are three work-shop sessions, however, there has been

a change in how Session 3 will be managed:

Sessions 1 and 2 will retain the typical work-shop format,

with some workshops being com-bined (for example,

Meeting Management is the Public Speaking workshop

along with Breaking the Ice and Moving Your Meetings)

Session 3 will be a general “divisional forum” for your di-

vision to meet with your current and future lieutenant gov-

ernor, as well as meet neighboring divisions.

Come prepared with an eager mind to absorb as much

knowledge as possible and bring it back to your clubs. It is

recommended that for clubs with many members attending,

to split up and attend several different workshops as op-

posed to just one. This way, you can bring as much informa-

tion as possible back to your home clubs after DCON, and

use your newfound knowledge to help guide you all for the

next service year!
