4. Marie Schlichtemeier. Born on October 13, 1833. Marie died in Otoe, Nebraska, on March 15, 1897; she was 63. Buried on March 18, 1897 in Union-Ote Cemetery.

Marie was also known as Mary. She was the first to come to America, finally convincing her parents to let her make the trip with a girlfriend. She eventually settled near Otoe, Nebraska.

On April 3, 1859 when Marie was 25, she married Claus Bredehoft, son of Matthias Bredehoft & Anna Engel Oelkers, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Born on September 30, 1832 in Bokel, Kingdom of Hannover. Claus died in Otoe, Nebraska, on January 1, 1906; he was 73.

5. Franz Heinrich Schlichtemeier. Born on December 25, 1835 in Holtzhausen or Bremerhaven, Germany. Franz Heinrich died on May 14, 1916; he was 80. Buried in 1916 in Kramer Lutheran Cemetery, NE. Religion: Lutheran.

Franz left his home on July 28, 1863 to come to the United States. He had gone west to the gold mines in Salt Lake City, UT, but “disliked the way of life.” He then homesteaded the Lancaster County farm, living at first in the crude log hut built by a former settler who claimed 40 acres of land. Franz purchased the 40 acres for $1.00 an acre in ad-dition to the homestead.Franz was a founding member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kramer. He was the second person to sign the con-stitution to form the Church on July 31, 1874, although the Church had existed for two years with out a constitution. The forty acres that the Church sits on was Goverment land that was granted to the Railroad. Franz went to the courthouse to purchase the land for the church. When he came out of the courthouse, a delegation from a different denomination (maybe the Methodist Episcopal which the Hollman family was involved) was coming to purchase the property Franz had just bought for his church.

On September 11, 1867 when Franz Heinrich was 31, he married Katherine Elsabein Furstenau, daughter of Peter Furstenau & Mary Louise Berger, in Nebraska City, NE. Born on September 29, 1845 in Obncruch or Ausnabruch, Germany. Katherine Elsabein died on November 1, 1921; she was 76.

William was also known as Billy. He left his home in Germany on November 1, 1855, at the age of 17. He first lived in Ohio for 4 years, then in Nebraska City where he made numerous trips to Ft. Kearney with a freight wagon. When He married Minnie they moved to a farm just south of the Cass-Otoe County line. Four years later in 1867 William and his family moved to a farm 4 1/2 miles northeast of Nehawka. He lived there for 39 years before building a house in Nehawka.

William Frederick married Minnie S Rughe. Born in 1845. Minnie S died in 1913; she was 68.

In the spring of 1897 he purchased a farm of one hundred and twenty-acres on section 11, Olive Branch precinct, and started out as an agriculturist on his own account. He operated the place for only nine years and in the spring of 1906 took up his abode in Kramer, where he was prominently identified with the live stock business during the following decade, disposing of his interests in this connection about the 1st of February, 1916. In November, 1911, he entered the Farmers State Bank of Kramer as assistant cashier and one year later was made cashier of the institu-tion.He is also one of the stockholders of the bank. In addition to his farm property he owns sixteen town lots in Kramer, as well as his residence property.His political allegiance was to the republican party and he was a member of the school board, while for nine years he has acted as treasurer

After the war he had assignments in Baltimore and New Orleans. He then returned to farming in Murray, Ne-braska. He felt it was better to raise his children in Nebraska.
