The success and pop ularity of last year’s event already has NFL Legend Irv Smith gearing up to de fend his title. Angie Gomez and James Rivas, The Manic Hispanic, both from MEGA 104.3, will duel it out on the dance floor. Most recently, Kristin Anderson from Fox 10 News has joined the line up. Still early in the plan s, we are in need of a venue and Sponsorship for the event. Sponsorship packages will, depending on the amount, consist of the following: $200 to $499 Internet Advertising (Event Website, Facebook, Twitter, Monthly Newsletter, Kaity’s Korner)  Announcement at the event Name or logo included on flyers to advertise the event. Susan provide general mental health counseling services, specializing in patient’s behavioral changes to compliment their medical treatment. Ric Sudberry Board Member Ric is the father of five and spent five years in the US Air Force as a Medical Technician. Ric works full time at Home Depot in Phoenix, AZ. He enjoys reading, watching football (Go Steelers!) and traveling. Norma Gomez Board Member  Norma is a mother of three and grandmother of nine. Norma first began her work as an advocate about 20 years ago when she began working with the developmentally disabled population. She continues her advocate work with the Pima County Attorneys’ Office, Victim Services Division. She enjoys teaching Baile folklórico, which she has done for the last 25 years in Ajo. Nogales Wrap Up, A New Law &P.E.A.CE. 

On February 15, 2011, KW  presented Kaity’s Story toalmost 600 students atNogales High School.Surveys were provided to thestudents and an impressive424 students responded andthe results are in.

98% agree that after hearing Kaity’s Story they would beable to recognize the warning signs of abuse in a relationship.

35% do know or have known someone in an abusive relationship 

8% believe they have been in an abusive relationship 

98% agree it would benefit teenagers to have Kaity’sStory presented in the school systems and/or youth organizations 

96% believe it would be helpful for teenagers if more adults were educated about teen dating violence 

Who would they talk to if theybelieved they were in an

abusive relationship?

Parents 48%, Teacher/Coach 11%, Friend 34%, Religious Leader 6%, Other 9% 

It is encouraging to see that

the larger percentage of thestudent population feels themost comfortable talking withtheir parents about theirrelationships and lives.

There is a new law on thebooks in Arizona. The SextingLaw A.R.S. 8-309 effective onor about July 29, 2010. Thislaw states that thetransmission or displays ofexplicit sexual material by ajuvenile using an electroniccommunications devise is nowa petty offense.

What this means is that if youare a minor and receive a textmessage with explicit materialthe best thing you could do foryourself is delete it and/orreport it to a person inauthority. If you forward themessage, you will have brokenthe law and if someone doesreport it, you are the one thatwill have to face the

consequences. Sexting is nice, so have the Guts To Good (Peer Solutions/StanServe Coalition) and Delet
