Highlights

The "International Survey onCareers of Doctorate Holders -CDH" is the official statistical surveywhich collects data on doctorateholders and is co-ordinated bythe OECD. The aim of the surveyis to document and analyse thecareer path and internationalmobility of doctorate. The CDH

survey was conducted for the firsttime in Greece by the NationalDocumentation Centre, during theperiod December 2014 - January2015, with 2013 as the year ofreference. The total number ofdoctorate holders meeting thecriteria of the CDH survey for 2013in Greece was 35,457. There were13,793 women doctorate holders,i.e. 38.9% of the total number.

The most popular scientific fieldswere "Medical & Health Sciences"(26.7%) and "Natural Sciences"(21.9%). The main sources of

funding for doctoral studies were:"'personal savings and supportfrom spouse, partner or family"(23.6%), "fellowship or scholarshipwithin Greece" (23.1%), "otheroccupation" (21.5%) and "teachingand/or research assistantship"(17.4%).

In 2013, the vast majority ofdoctorate holders, 94.8%, wereemployed (employees or self-employed). In comparison with theother countries in the CDH survey,Greece had the highest percentageof unemployed doctorate holders(3.5%). As far as the sector ofemployment is concerned, themajority of doctorate holders(57.0%) was employed in thehigher education sector, 20.6%in the government sector and8.7% in the business sector. InGreece, approximately four outof ten doctorate holders (37.1%)changed employment during theperiod January 2004-December2013. Greece presents a highpercentage of doctorate holderswith international mobility(18.9%). The United Kingdom (UK),United States of America (USA) andGermany were the most commondestination countries for mobile

The National DocumentationCentre (EKT), in accordancewith its role towards producingand publishing R&D statistics,published a study with thetitle An analysis of the stateof research and developmentco-operation between Greeceand Germany. To accomplishsuch a feat in a comprehensivemanner, the availability and up-to-date character of the relevantdata needed to be taken intoconsideration. Given the primenetworking effect of EuropeanR&D competitive funds, in additionto them being a main fundingsource for the Greek science

and technology base weightedtowards encompassing an analysisof the 7th Framework Programme.

Examining the scientific "output"in terms of publications, and morespecifically of copublications byGreek and German authors inacclaimed science and technology

journals stands as the second pillarof this analysis. Lastly, the bilateralR&D program, given its explicit anddirect aim towards enhancing theR&D cooperation between the twocountries is also included.

The new digital repository of theAcropolis Restoration Servicewas presented during an eventorganised by the Committee forthe Conservation of the AcropolisMonuments (ESMA), the Acropolis

Restoration Service (YSMA) andthe National DocumentationCentre (EKT), on Friday 22 January2016, at the Acropolis Museum.In addition, the audience wasintroduced to YSMAs librarydigital catalogue, as well as toYSMAs 2015 publications.

The repository is an integrateddigital content infrastructure forthe successive disseminationof archival material from therestoration programs of theAthenian Acropolis. It includesoriginal documents, including

photographs, images, textualcontent and audiovisualmaterial, that allow the visitor to

explore the architectural formand construction details of themonuments.

One can seek out the traces causedby physical decay and humaninterventions on each buildingand follow the progress of therestoration and conservationworks.
