SHAREHOLDER NEWSLETTER

JULY 2017Dear Kagga Kamma Shareholder

It’s winter at Kagga Kamma (and all across our beautiful land) and we cannot believe we find ourselves in one of the

coldest months of the year, again! Thankfully the Resort is beautiful and magical in winter and we have so much to be

grateful for. Now that we have a whole range of special days, like New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, RCI OSCAS Awards Ceremony,

Easter and Mother’s Day (amongst others) checked-off of our calendars, we have plenty to tell you. Let’s not keep you in suspense

– allow us to expand on the latest and greatest happenings at Kagga Kamma the first half of 2017. So without further ado…

Your Managing Agent, VRS, is a member of Uni-Vision and as such, embraces the Vision of “Creating the Environment for Everlasting Holiday Memories” unreservedly. That’s why your Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve Team is all about creating an environment where you and your family can make timeless memories and we aim to do that through on-going hard work and dedication and

continually challenging ourselves to create and innovate.

At the VRS Awards, Kagga Kamma received awards for “Maintenance”, “Waitron Team of the Year”, “Exceptional Team Spirit and Unity”, and “Housekeeper of the Year”. Kagga Kamma’s results at the RCI OSCAS and VRS Awards Ceremonies are a testimony of the hard work, dedication and determination of both our On-site and Off-site Team’s commitment to making Kagga Kamma a place of excellence

and the place where you can create everlasting memories.

Speaking of the hard work and dedication of our team –

Kagga Kamma did extremely

well at this year’s

annual, highly-acclaimed RCI OSCAS.

Firstly, we won “Top Hospitality Resort of the Year”, placed in the top three in the “Top Check-In and Check-Out” category and against hundreds of other Resorts, won the “Superior Service in Hospitality”, in the Comment Card category. In addition to this, Kagga Kamma’s very own Resort Manager, Tania Steekamp, was a nominee in the General Manager of the Year category.

CREATING THE ENVIRONMENT FOR EVERLASTING HOLIDAY MEMORIES

WHAT ELSE IS NEW AT KAGGA KAMMA?

As the guests drive towards Kagga Kamma and notice the familiar sight of the changing colours of the sand (from red to brown, to white), the fynbos dotting the plains and the rough rock “stacks” that have become synonymous with Kagga Kamma …

and they finally arrive at the Entrance; they may be pleasantly surprised. We have a brand new, secure Entrance Gate, signage and a beautiful rock garden. The perfect welcome back to your home-away-from home!

From here you head-off to Reception to be welcomed “home” at check-in and then it’s time for you to make

your way to your chalet, which means the start of yet another magnificent stay.

Something that our guests have reported made their stay during April and May magnificent was the Mom’s

Night-Off Campaign. So we thought why not continue this super special! For guests that have no idea what this special is about and how it works – mom (and dad) get Tuesday night-off. For a set price we host, entertain and feed the kids , in the Conference Room; while mom and dad choose between a cheese crusted lasagne (with Greek salad), chicken pie (with Greek salad) or a cottage pie and enjoy some quality time… and of course, a break from cooking. For more information and to secure your spot, con-tact us on – 023 004 0077 or [email protected]

Don’t miss out on our fabulous Side Dish Menu! Your stay at Kagga Kamma doesn’t have to be complex –

order one of our delicious side dishes to accompany your traditional family braai. Just place your order a day in advance at Reception and voila – your life becomes simpler and tastier, just like that. Imagine a traditional ‘pap’ tart, creamy potato salad, toasty “braai-broodjies” (with yummy cheese, onion and tomato), spicy hot noodle salad and just-out-of-the-oven potato bake (and more)!Don’t miss out on something delicious and affordable; place your order before you even leave the house at: 023 004 0077 or [email protected]

Speaking of not missing out – the next time you visit Kagga Kamma and while the younger guests are being entertained;

don’t miss out on a visit to Doppies Pub. Indulge in one of our many-to-choose-from, thirst-quenching cocktails

or the like, and just enjoy the lovely cosy atmosphere. While you are there, basking in the atmosphere – you will notice that we have renovated this area; now it really is the perfect “watering hole” for our adults guests.

We have a few projects planned for the second half of the year but we’ll reveal all, at the end of the year. Watch this space!

KAGGA KAMMA HAS TALENT – THE “SAND PICASSO” STORY

Have you met Kagga Kamma’s very own “Sand Picasso”? You might have met him – he goes by the name Charles Smith. Allow us to tell you his fascinating Kagga Kamma story.

Creativity, some say is intelligence having fun. Others believe that creativity flourishes in an atmosphere of inner security and confidence. We believe in these statements and that creativity is connected to passion, to the light that drives you. Creativity sets your heart on fire and leads you to great things. And creativity certainly led to great and amazing things for Charles Smith, a very talented Kagga Kammaean.

ART IN A BOTTLECharles joined the Kagga Kamma Team in 2013 as a porter and gate guard. Not one to sit idle, he kept himself busy filling recycled bottles with different colours of sand, found at Kagga Kamma. His passion and creativity was first discovered when he made the Resort Manager, Tania Steenkamp, a sand art bottle for her birthday; she loved it and knew that guests would love it too! Now Charles makes the bottles, Kagga Kamma buys them from him and sells them in the Curio Shop. And wow, they are popular – guests from all over the world buy his fine work. Charles even assisted and showcased his talent once for a wedding held at Kagga Kamma. The bride requested the sand art bottles be made as favours for her guests – a massive task because there were 58 guests in attendance. With each bottle taking about two hours to complete, you can imagine how many hours Charles spent intricately designing the sand bottles.

So how does “Sand Picasso” do it …He carefully and meticulously fills the bottles making different patterns with the different shades of sand. The tools of his trade? A thin stick and a straw! Within the two hours his passion and creativity culminates in a magnificent creative piece of art in a bottle – a signature item at the Kagga Kamma Shop.

Kagga Kamma applauds Charles for – his hard work, pas-sion and imagination that has, and is, inspiring many of our cherished shareholder’s, their families and beyond.

Don’t miss the December instalment of “Kagga Kamma Has Talent”, where we’ll be featuring our very own “Michelangelo Rock Painter”!

Let’s be serious – nothing is more South African than a good old braai. This edition we are sharing our ultimate “braai salad” known as Kagga Kamma Rangers’ Caviar (perfect to add to that Kagga Kamma Sweet Potato Recipe). Let the yumminess begin!

There is no doubt that a stay at Kagga Kamma isn’t just another holiday for you.

It is a time to part from the busyness, haste and pressure of everyday life. A time you can get away from emails, WhatsApp’s and demands technology imposes on you. It is a dedicated time you get to

spend with loved ones; a time to unwind and relax; a time to focus on the things that really matter. It is for these reasons that we always make sure you have fun with us and that we create an environment for you to make everlasting memories.

Kagga Kamma offers unique experiences and fun that are perfect for the whole family. For guests that are intrigued by the coldblooded critters that call Kagga Kamma home – we offer informative

Reptile Presentations. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about snakes like: Spotted Skaapsteker, Cape Cobras, Puff Adders, American Rat Snake; or lizards like the Girdled Lizard or Bibron’s Gecko. Because these presentations are never based on the same critters every time; they never become old and mundane.

We also host a whole range of special activities, on special days – like Guided Fancy Dress Hikes, Beer and Food Pairing, Egg-and-Spoon Races or different themed quizzes. Our very own Spa often

has themed specials and Kagga Kamma Restaurant works on a delicious spread for special occasions and days. Then there are those extraordinary guided activities that explore the 15 hectares of untouched fynbos wilderness, which you can enjoy at 30% discount. What make the guided excursions exceptional is, no matter how many times you go on them, they are never the same; because nature doesn’t stand still!

Besides all the fun on offer, Kagga Kamma will continue to spoil you on anniversaries, surprise you on your birthday, help guests that may want to propose to that special someone and make days like Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and the like, extremely memorable. In the end,

what matters most to us is that you only have the best time with us so that Kagga Kamma is the place where your heart lies. Until we get to welcome you back and ensure we put smiles on your faces again – take care!
