A Message from our Head of Junior School
Ms Harold
Assalamu Alaykum
Dear parents/ carers,
This year National Child Protection Week will celebrate its
30th year with the theme: Putting children first.
Putting children first means prioritising the safety and
wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel
safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say
in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things
like food, shelter and healthcare.
National Child Protection Week 2020 begins on 6th September
and concludes 12th September. Throughout the week, junior
school students will participate in a variety of activities to
raise student awareness of their own and others safety.
Please find attached some useful information regarding child
safety.
I’d like to thank all parents for their continued support and
cooperation in all matters relating to COVID 19 and keeping
your children home if unwell. Your ongoing support has kept
our school running and healthy!
With Father’s Day just around the corner, I’d also like to
remind all families that next week we will be hosting a ‘Fathers
and Others’ Day stall for your child to purchase a gift for
their father or someone special in their lives. Please see
attached letter for further information.
Lastly, I’d like to congratulate
Zaynab Hijazi for demonstrating her
character strengths, particularly
bravery and love of learning at our
morning assembly this week, when
she read her favourite book to the
whole school ‘Love from the
crayons’. Well done Zaynab!
Yours sincerely
Ms Harold

Things to come
Labayka Ya Hussain
Salamu Alaykum,
What a spectacular scene unfolded on the plains of Bellfield College today. As
we mourned Imam Hussain (as) and the day of Ashura, students were able to
reflect on the sacrifices that Imam Hussain (as), his family and companions
made on the 10th of Muharram in 61 AH.
Students made their way around 6 stations that taught them the significance
of the day of Ashura and the importance of always standing up for what is right
against what is wrong.
They then took their thoughts and emotions and put them on paper through
their letters to Imam Hussain, his family or his companions. As some students
teared up whilst writing their reflections or listening to the Majlis, it became
clear that the love of this noble man and his actions of truth have touched yet
another heart!
May we all walk in the path of Imam Hussain (as) and remain steadfast in truth
through our actions and words.
Enjoy the pictures.
