WHAT IS JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT?
Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life.
In partnership with business and educators, JA brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential.
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT’S ROLE
Provide all materials, curriculum support and volunteer training.
Integrate the highest quality economic program possible into the classroom curriculum.
VOLUNTEER’S ROLE
Role Model: Brings an outside business perspective into the classroom and serves as positive role models for students.
Communicator: Present the materials and share his/her experiences at a level the students can relate and understand.
VOLUNTEER’S ROLE CONT’D
Share Resources: Draws on his/her own experiences and provides real life demonstrations of the units presented.
Career Awareness: Encouraged to share information about his/her job or profession with the students.
TEACHER’S ROLE
Creator of a positive environment: Ensure the classroom environment is conducive to a positive learning experience.
Interpreter: Help the Volunteer speak at the students' level. Do the students understand the vocabulary the Volunteer is using?
Bridge between Volunteer and Classroom: Enhance the Volunteer's visit by relating the JA materials to course materials being covered between Volunteer visits.
TEACHER’S ROLE CONT’D
School Contact: Keep the Volunteer informed about schedule changes, policies, and other school operating information.
Assistant: Assist the Volunteer with the activities.
Disciplinarian: Remain in the classroom at all times and maintain discipline.
Supporter: Give the Volunteer feedback about his/her presentation.

JP2 Volunteer Orientation Training Thursday, February 11 @ 5:30 PM
Expected classroom activity launch date Monday, March 22
Elementary School programs are once a week for five weeks
Middle School programs are once a week for six weeks
