come to Villigen

About 40 ETH Alumni of the Alumni Chapter Baden and guests of other Chapters

met on May 16, 2019, at the PSI in Villigen to experience why it seems to be the

last hope to some people.

On Thursday, May 16, 2019, the annual spring party of the AIV took place. The

weather played along, the guest list was fully booked and the suckling pig was

cooked to perfection.

Töpferei Zürich for a theatre adventure. We attended a workshop about

improvisational theatre.

institutions and 28 different companies participated at the civil engineer FORUM.

Alumni Chapter Ticino

AROMA: Autonomous Robot for Odorant Measurement in

the Air

After the annual general assembly on April 6, 2019, we had the pleasure to attend

a conference by Elisa Garulli presenting the AROMA project. AROMA is a robot

that is able to detect volatile substances in the air.

Beer tasting on the lake of Zoug

On Saturday, 13 April, the Alumni Chapter Zoug organised a beer seminar at the

2nd beer ship on the lake of Zoug. Members were able to spend a convivial

afternoon with beer.

career entry event at ETH. It was addressed to students and new graduates of the

Alumni Focus

Markus Rothacher: «The universe undergoes a

democratisation process».

Markus Rothacher is professor at ETH Zurich and received from the "European

Geosciences Union" the Vening Meinesz Medal in 2018. On 25th June, he will

attend the Focus Event about the topic "Space – cutting edge research and high-

tech" as an expert.

Foamy beer and good atmosphere

On Friday, 24th May, the ETH Alumni Association invited to the VSETH

«Summerbar» on the «Polyterrasse». The good weather enticed to drink

an after-work beer. Numerous people took advantage of the offer and

enjoyed the lovely view onto the city.

Peter Perutz: «ETH is a pillar of my life.»

Peter Perutz experienced the Second World War in Prague, Budapest and

Vienna. As a young man, he arrived in Zurich and graduated as a mechanical

engineer. He is still active as an author today.

Congratulations to new professors

On the recommendation of ETH President Joël Mesot, the ETH Board appointed

several new ETH professors and conferred the title of ETH professor on two

researchers. All the new appointments consciously connect their subject

expertise with other disciplines.
