Shopping for the public begins only at 10:00AM

when the horn signals the open of the market.

Please do not sell anything to the general

public before this time.

From 9:30-10:00AM vendors can do their shopping,

though they must be wearing their purple vendor’s

button in order to make a purchase during this

time. Please do not sell anything to customers not

wearing a vendor button prior to 10:00AM.

For any new vendors, or those that aren’t aware,

there are some stalls that do not have parking.

We recommend that you park in the lot behind the

Hemingway Centre (formerly old RCMP Station), north-

west of the market or in the St. Albert Curling Club

Parking Lot. There are a large number of stalls re-

served just for us.

If you have parking with your booth, please do not

forget to bring lattice or a similar material to place

under your tires. This helps protect the beautiful St. Al-

bert grass, and it saves us all money as the City of St.

Albert must be reimbursed for any damages.

and will be monitored closely.

NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED. Your pet

will have to be removed from the Mar-

ket area. Failure to comply will be

deemed in contravention of the

“Trespass to Premise Act,” and may re-

sult in a $230.00 fine.

The Market is a NON-SMOKING

environment at all times.

Remember to stop by the Chamber booth before

market start to get this year’s vendor buttons and

stall numbers.

Numbers must be displayed prominently in your

booth at all times.

On the back of every number is an emergency

zone number. This is extremely important because

in the case of an emergency you must tell the

emergency services which zone you are located in.

They have different entries into the market depend-

ing on the zone.

STALL NUMBERS

STALL LAYOUT

A minor but important detail is to ensure that booths are

flush with the curb. This guarantees that you take advan-

tage of the MAXIMUM 10-foot distance from the curb.

Please note, that everything must be inside your tent at all

times. For example, no signs or product can be outside of

your tent.

Many of the vendors who have been here in previous years

may remember that the weather is unpredictable. We are

subject to not only rain, but also wind. We have learned

that in extreme winds, tents can turn into kites!

Please bring some sort of weight to hold your tent down in

the event of extreme winds.

If winds do become severe enough that you feel safety is a

concern, please put as much of your product in bins as

possible, keeping just what is needed to continue selling on

the tables. Dropping your tent may be the best option.

CANCELLATIONS

The market is every Saturday, rain or shine, and we

would like everyone to show up every week to make

the market complete.

However, we understand that there are some dire

emergencies where a cancellation must be made. As

stated in the contract, there are no refunds for missed

days, and we require a notice of at least 48 hours in writ-

ing so that we can find someone to fill your stall and

keep it warm in your absence.

The St. Albert & District Chamber of Commerce Farmers’

Market is classified by Alberta Health Services as a

“Food Establishment.”

Issue 3 — June 29, 2013

In celebration of Canada Day this Monday, we present a few fun facts about our wonderful nation:

1. Canadians consume more Macaroni and Cheese than any other nation in the world. Who doesn‘t love Kraft Dinner?

2. While everyone knows our official national sports are ice hockey and lacrosse, did you know that Canadian, James Naismith,

invented basketball to give his physical education students in Springfield, Massachusetts, an indoor team sport to play during

the long winters? Now if only those Toronto Raptors could make the playoffs!

3. Despite being the 2nd largest country in the world behind Russia, Canada is the 9th most sparsely population nation in the

world with a population density of 8.6 people per square mile. Yet, rush hour is still a nightmare every day...

4. Canada holds the record for the most gold medals ever won at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010. Thanks Sid for the

Golden Goal!

5. Our Royal Canadian Mint has produced coins for more than 60 other countries including Cuba, Yemen, Columbia and Ice-

land! Too bad we couldn't save the penny!

6. If you visit Dawson City, Yukon, you can join the ―Sour Toe Cocktail Club‖ — all you have to do is finish a drink (of any-

thing!) with a real human toe in the bottom. The club‘s motto says, ―You can drink it fast, you can drink it slow — but the lips

have gotta touch the toe.‖

7. Ever wonder where the name ‗Canada‘ came from? It comes from a misunderstanding between Jacques Cartier and some

Iroquois youth who were pointing out a village (for which they used the word ―Kanata‖). They were actually trying to iden-

tify the small area which is present day Quebec City, but Cartier used the similar-sounding word ―Canada‖ to refer to the

whole area. Oops!

8. The coldest temperature ever recorded in North America occurred in Snag, Yukon in 1947, a bone-chilling –63 degrees Cel-

sius. Better pack your parka!

Happy Canada Day from the St. Albert & District Chamber of Commerce!

After the North American Beer Festival, all the brewery presidents decided to go out for a beer. The President of Corona, sits down

and says, 'Hey Senor, I would like the world's best beer, a Corona.' The bartender dusts off a bottle from the shelf and gives it to him.

The President of Budweiser says, 'I'd like the best beer in the world, give me 'The King Of Beers', a Budweiser.' The bartender gives

him one. The President of Coors says, 'I'd like the only beer made with Rocky Mountain spring water, give me a Coors.' He gets it.

The President of Molson Canadian sits down and says, 'Give me a Coke.' The bartender is a little taken aback, but gives him what he

ordered. The other brewery presidents look over at him and ask, 'Why aren't you drinking a Molson's?'

The Molson Canadian president replies, 'Well, I figured if you guys aren't drinking beer, neither would I.'

Happy Canada Day!

The Canadian Red Cross has already accumulated $5.4 million in donations for its flood response. But the millions of dollars do-

nated will only put a dent in the preliminary $3 billion to $5 billion damage estimate pegged by a Bank of Montreal analyst.

The provincial government announced Monday the first $1 billion injection of disaster relief, which will come from the province‘s

contingency account. Premier Alison Redford said the province faces 5-10 years of rebuilding to recover from the floods.

Donations to the Canadian Red Cross can be made on their website, www.redcross.ca, or by calling 1-800-418-1111. For mobile

users, donating to flood relief is as easy as sending a text message. Telus users can text REDCROSS to 30333 to donate $5 to the

Red Cross. Rogers or Fido subscribers can donate the same amount to the Red Cross by texting ABHELP to 4664.

Also, donations can be made to the Salvation Army Flood Relief effort by calling 1-800-725-2769, texting 20222 to donate $10 to

provide flood aid, or by visiting their website, www.salvationarmy.ca

Those who cannot donate monetarily can also volunteer through Samaritan’s

Purse by calling 1-866-628-656.
