We have heard that we need approximately eight hours of sleep each day, but in today’s busy world, who really gets eight hours sleep? Some persons think it is also pointless to get that much sleep when their time could be better spent on things such as shopping, web surfing, working or visiting the spa. During sleep, the body does most of its repair work such as tissue building. No one is really sure how much sleep is needed but the bottom line is sleep is very important. It restores us and not getting enough of it can put us at greater risk of heart disease and cancer. Sleep can even make us smarter. Wedding planning can cause sleep depravation but not to worry because there are natural non habit-forming ways to treat insomnia.

Cherries: In a small study, participants drank eight ounces of the tart cherry (also known as sour cherry) juice in the morning, and another eight ounces in the evening, for two weeks and reported better sleeping habits. Since all cherries are naturally high in melatonin, a compound that makes us sleepy, you can try eating a cup as a snack before it’s time for shut-eye if you’d rather not drink the juice.

Fish: Certain fish and crustaceans contain sleep-inducing tryptophan; these include shrimp, cod, tuna and halibut. It is recommended that one sticks to catches like Pacific cod from Alaska or pole-caught Albacore tuna from the U.S. or British Columbia because some are high in contaminants, and the

method of catching them is suspect.

Carbohydrate & Protein Combination: If keeping track of the latest safe seafood guidelines is too complicated, you can get your tryptophan fix from other things. You’ve probably heard that warm milk can help you sleep, since milk contains tryptophan. But the key is to combine a carbohydrate and a protein containing tryptophan so your body will better utilize the sleep inducer. You can eat a bowl of whole grain cereal and milk before bedtime.

Lemon balm: This lemon-scented member of the mint family has been a sleep-inducing superstar for ages. Other benefits include better digestion and decreased agitation. Try making lemon balm tea by steeping 1 to teaspoons of the dried herb in one cup of hot water for -10 minutes. If you take thyroid medicines talk to your doctor before using lemon balm.

Other Herbs: If you do not like lemon balm, you could use sage, chamomile or valerian teas. Four table spoons of sage can be steeped in a cup of hot water for four hours, strain and reheat to drink.

I DO MEMOIRS…therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife…

We all dream of finding that one person who will be our life partner till the end of time; someone to share with, laugh with and cry with. Marriage is a beautiful thing.

Nuptials spoke with a wonderful couple Loyis & Rohan and they shared this:

Late one December night in 00 after a study session Loyis went to get petrol from the Petcom station in Portmore, little did she know this was the first time she would be meeting her husband. Rohan upon seeing this “beautiful young lady” asked why was she out so late by herself. Loyis told him she was coming from a study session, he made small talk and then requested her telephone number; Loyis flatly refused and went home.

Months later whilst walking to a dentist appointment, Loyis and Rohan’s path again crossed. Rohan didn’t waste anytime re-introducing himself and again ask for her telephone number; this time she gave him her office number. He called as promised and they spoke at length. They became great friends, then lovers and finally life partners as Rohan made his intentions clear on her birthday and before they knew it they were celebrating four wonderful years.

Experience teacheth wisdom and so we asked what advice they had for persons who are dating, newlyweds or married. They encourage dating persons, newlyweds or married couples to always be honest with each other, pray for and with each other , always compliment each other, make time for date nights even if you are already married, discover new places and things together, learn the art of compromising and last but definitely not least never, ever go to bed angry with each other.

When asked in retrospect what would they change about their wedding they stated nothing as they fully believe in “seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you and they feel blessed to have trust in the Lord who brought them together.

Like your wedding cake your dress will be the center of attention and as such you not only want to feel comfortable and knock ‘em dead; but to also be the talk of the town in a ‘good way’. You have envisioned what you will look like on your big day for as long as you can remember and it may come as a surprise that choosing that dress is not a simple feat.

Fabric, make and measurements are paramount in finding a dress that compliments your body shape. Some persons may already be au-fait with this – great! For others that are not sure, please visit a bridal shop to be properly measured by a professional. Not because a particular style seems to be in season it does not mean that that style is for your body shape.

The Full Figured Bride

The A-lined design often fits a woman with this figure better. A-line styles lengthen the body without drawing too much attention to the waist line. You may also choose empire waist styles as they are narrower just starting under the bust. Dresses with scoop or v-necks are very flattering on curvy women.

The Petite Bride

As mentioned before, an A-lined dress lengthens the body, and as such will be good for the petite bride. Sheath styled dresses causes the body to look short and so these should be avoided if you are petite. Full skirt gowns should also be avoided as it will cause you to look “bottom heavy”; wedding dresses should be proportioned to your body. Petite brides may also opt for dresses with small capped sleeves or straps to hold the dress in place; this will eliminate any wardrobe malfunction.

Large Busted brides

Off the shoulder gowns works wonders on large busted women as it emphasizes the shoulders and draws attention upwards. You want to get a narrow skirt as a large skirt and a large top does not complement each other.

The Bottom-heavy Bride

Arms, back and bust lines should be the focus. Corseted bodices, laced typed gowns draws attention away from your buttocks, avoid pleats and gathers around the waist. A-line dresses normally look good on this body type.

Terms to knowA-line: The A-line or princess dress has no marked waist and the vertical seams flow from the shoulders down to a flared skirt, creating an “A” shape.

Ball Gown: These gowns are normally quite formal, reminding you of Cinderella. The bodice is fitted with a very full skirt.

Empire Waist: Empire gowns have a raised waistline that starts right under the bust, flowing to a skirt that skims over the hips then flairs slightly to the floor.

Sheath: The sheath or column dress has a slim shape that follows close to the line of the body.

Mermaid: As the name indicates, the mermaid dress is contoured against the body then the gown flows out beginning around the knees.

Wedding cakes are a time-honored tradition, and are the highlight of any wedding party. It is not only a delicious treat for guests but a remembrance of your special day. You will need to reserve your wedding date early with your baker. The following are some things to consider:

1. Contact bakeries or cake decorators in your local area to check your wedding date for availability. Cake designers book up quickly, often many months in advance. So do not hesitate in contacting the one you want very soon in the planning process. Once you have found a baker with an open date, book a consultation with that baker. Consultations should be FREE of charge. Since most weddings are held during weekends, the bakeries will be busy most weekends delivering cakes. Call ahead early to plan your consultation. Most consultations will be held by “Appointment Only”, so do not be disappointed if you drop in unannounced and the baker seems to not have time for you.

. Deposits: Most bakeries and cake designers will require you to make a substantial deposit at the time of the consultation so that your wedding date will be reserved for you. If a deposit has not been given to the cake designer then do not assume that your date is being held for you. The general rule is “First Come, First Serve”.

. Cost: Time is the most costly factor in any cake design. The more time that is spent in the design of your cake the more expensive it will be. A more simple design will be less costly. Be prepared to pay for the decorator’s time. Be prepared and have an idea of what you would like to have in a cake when you arrive for your consultation. Most professional cake designers will work with you to design a wedding cake that will fit your budget. Depending on where you live the cost for your wedding cake will vary greatly. Things like, flower choice, flavor, icing, delivery, and number of servings are all factors

that will also affect the final price of your wedding cake.

. Payments: Most wedding cake designers will allow you to make payments on your wedding cakes during the months leading up to your wedding. Be sure to clarify all the details on this option at the time of your consultation. Be prepared to lose some if not all of your deposit should the wedding be called off for any reason. Remember, your wedding date has been held just for you, so therefore the cake designer has passed on many other opportunities to work on your wedding date. It is customary that the wedding cake costs be paid in full prior to your wedding date. Again, clarify the details.

. Communication: Good clear detailed communication is the key to avoiding future problems. Be sure to get copies of contracts, agreements, etc, during your consultation. Take written notes if possible of what the agreements were between you and the cake designer. Be sure to provide valid contact numbers to the cake designer. If you are using a Wedding Coordinator be sure that number is given to the cake designer as well. If for any reason you must cancel your wedding date, please notify your cake designer immediately. . Details of Your Wedding Cake: There are so many options for your wedding cake design. The sky is the limit! Options to consider prior to your consultation: Fresh Flowers, Sugar Flowers, Colors, Cake topper, Ornaments, Delivery, Placement of the cake at the reception. These are all very important factors in your cake design; try to decide on each of these during your consultation time with your cake designer. Do not be afraid to trust and ask your cake designer questions. They have attended probably more weddings than you have, and seen things done right and wrong. Your wedding cake designer can offer you much help in all these areas.

. Final Thoughts: Finally, it’s your wedding day! Most importantly enjoy it! Try not to let little mistakes that people might make ruin a beautiful day. If you have done your homework, then you have chosen qualified wedding professionals to handle some of the details for you. Each one of them will do their very best to make sure that your wedding day is as wonderful as it can be. A good friend once told me, “Don’t sweat the small stuff!”. Have fun and make memories, enjoy your new spouse and live a wonderful blessed life together.
