Advance RegistrationAvoid long lines by pre-registering for the 65th ACSM Annual Meeting by mail, fax or at www.acsmannualmeeting.org. Discounted registration is available through April 19. Pre-registration services are available through May 22. A $50 processing fee will be applied to all professional on-site registration fees.

CancellationsA service charge of $50 will be applied to all cancellations. Cancellations must be submitted in writing. Phone cancellations will not be accepted—however, email cancellation notification is acceptable if sent to [email protected] by April 19, 2018. No shows are not considered cancellations. Please review registration form for additional details.

AbstractsAll presentation abstracts will be available online prior to the meeting. Attendees will receive an email with instructions for how to access and print the abstracts. Printed copies of the abstracts will not be available on-site.

Annual Meeting Objectives:

1. Evaluate the biological, biomechanical, psychological and behavioral changes accompanying exercise in both normal and pathological states.

2. Analyze state-of-the art and innovative basic science, applied science, and clinical medicine in the areas of exercise, fitness, health and physical performance.

3. Compare new approaches and perspectives concerning exercise science and sports medicine through interactive discussions with scientists and clinicians in related fields.

4. Recognize the importance of basic science research as it relates to diseases and conditions that exist due to physical inactivity.

5. Assess how physical activity research and practice can contribute to public health.

Clinically Specific Objectives:

6. Incorporate new guidelines into the care of the concussed athlete to improve recovery in order to decrease the risk of post-concussive symptoms and safely return to play in their sport.

7. Develop strategies to counsel patients with chronic diseases to participate in physical activity to improve function and quality of life.

8. Determine which patients with heart diseases are at risk for sudden cardiac death and refer for advanced cardiac care when appropriate.

9. Explore alternative pain management techniques in the care of athletes with musculoskeletal pain to decrease pain, improve function, and prevent opioid misuse, abuse and addiction in athletes and active people.

10. Incorporate best practices in the evaluation and treatment of athletes with mental health issues in order to improve athlete quality of life.

ACSM CECsThe American College of Sports Medicine’s Professional Education Committee certifies that this continuing education offering meets the criteria for a maximum of 30.25 hours of ACSM continuing education credit.

BOC – CEUs American College of Sports Medicine (BOC AP#P401) is approved by the Board of Certification Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 30.25 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.
