JULY NEWSLETTER 2013
YEAR 11 LEAVERS—GOODBYE & GOOD LUCK This year we are saying goodbye to 6 pupils who are all going on to further education
at Sir Tom Finney Community High School, Mayfield Special School, The Loyne
School & West Lancashire Community High School. During her time at Hillside,
Lizzie has become more confident and her self-esteem is much improved. In her
final year, Lizzie has been on a residential visit to Whitehough & did her work ex-
perience, gardening at Self Unlimited in Samlesbury. Sana has been a school milk
monitor for the last two years and she has enjoyed working in the school office.
During her work experience placement at Booths supermarket in Longridge, Sana
replenished stock on the shop floor. Chris has been helping at the Old Station Cafe
in Longridge for his work experience, Edward was working on the shop floor in Sains-
burys and Joey has been helping our cook in the school kitchen, helping to prepare
food for the pupil & staff meals. Edward has been at Hillside since 2005 and for his
work placement he went to Ribble Farm Fare to help prepare vegetables for delivery.
Edward, Chris & Edward all went on a residential trip to London in year 10 and Ed-
ward and Chris have recently been to York. Both Sana and Lizzie have achieved the
Asdan Transition Challenge Award while Joey will leave school with the Bronze AS-
DAN Award. Chris, Edward & Edward will all leave with the Silver ASDAN Award.
When asked what they have liked about Hillside, heres what they said: “Hillside is a good school, I
have enjoyed drawing and books”; “I like Beacon Fell Mister Softee wafer cone”; “Hillside’s been my best time and
its good here” and “I have enjoyed science most at Hillside”
We will miss them all but we wish them good luck in their new schools and for the future.
