Question: I’m preparing my home to go on the market soon, but I have two dogs. Can you offer any advice on selling a home with pets?

Answers: Six out of 10 U.S. households own pets posing a problem to both sellers and real estate agents seeking buyers. First, and probably the most important tip, is to eradicate pet odor. Buyers who are sensitive or who have allergies will immediately be turned off by odor issues. Pet hair is another problem that can be alleviated with a professional cleaning and frequent vacuuming.

It is also a good idea to remove any evidence of pets, including dog doors, toys, even pet crates. During showings it is wise to relocate pets because some potential buyers may find them objectionable no matter how cute they are.
